Halloween Monster Treat Bags Using Cricut

Looking for a fun and easy treat bag for Halloween? Check out these one-eyed monsters stuffed with Halloween goodness. Cut a few for a small party or enough for a whole classroom of monsters using your Cricut Maker or Explore machine.

• Cricut Deluxe Paper or cardstock of your choice (You can make 2 treat bags from one 12x12 inch sheet.)
• Scoring tool
• Black cardstock
• Paper adhesive (glue or tape runner)
• Snack -size zippered sandwich bags filled with candy, popcorn, etc.

Add a 11.4 wide by 5.7 inch tall rectangle to a new project in Cricut Design Space. Add three 5.7 inch vertical score lines to the project. Position one score line about 1 inch from the right edge of the rectangle, one at 5.25 inches, and one at 7.25 inches from the right edge of the rectangle. (Refer to the cut image below.)

I’m using the mouth from the Candy Monster design (#MC2B813B) as the opening for the front of my treat bag. This design is free with Cricut Access. Size the mouth to about 3x4 inches. Position the mouth vertically over the left side of the rectangle and use the slice function in Cricut Design Space to remove the mouth from the rectangle as shown.

I’m also borrowing the iris from the One Eyed Monster design (#MD51FCD9) in Cricut Access for the eye on my treat bag. Size the iris to about 1.8x1.8 inches. Place the iris inside the opening you sliced from the rectangle in the previous step.

Attach all the design elements and make a copy. Position the copy very close to the original and attach all the project elements. You can fit 2 treat bags on a 12x12 inch sheet of paper with very little waste. Make the project using Cricut Deluxe Paper or patterned or solid cardstock of your choice. I’m using this super cute Monster Party Paper from Cricut.

Also cut one 2.5 inch circle from black cardstock for each treat bag. The circle will be the back of the monster’s eye and serve as a mini handle on the top of the bag.

If you’d like, use a white paint marker or white colored pencil to color the 4 teeth white.

Fold the bag on the score lines.

Staple a sandwich bag filled with treats to the top edge of the front of the bag.

Fold the back flap over the front of the bag, concealing the staples, and adhere in place using glue or a tape runner.

Glue the iris on one black circle and adhere it above the mouth at the top of the bag.
