Halloween/ Harvest Chocolate Bark

What did the dog say to make the squirrel run up the tree?... " Bark! Bark! Bark! "

Okay, I know that was pretty bad, but I promise you these are really, really good! They also make a great midday snack, or a nice little treat for family, friends, and co-workers.

Prep time: 30- 35 minutes

Supplies

1 1/2 cups dark melting chocolate [ You can use milk choc, white choc, etc. for this recipe]

1/2 cup of candy corn

1/2 cup of Reese's Pieces [ Or M&M's, the orange and yellow ones ]

Orange and purple sprinkles

Cookie sheet

Wax or parchment paper [ the size of your cookie sheet ]

Spoon

Spatula

*You can also add in your favorite nuts

Melting the Chocolate

If the chocolate you're using comes in a plastic bag, put the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Then put the chocolate in the microwave and put it on low power for 30 second increments until it melts, [ mine took about 1 minute and 30 seconds. ] stirring in between each time.

Be careful on how much you cook the chocolate, because chocolate can burn really easily!

While the chocolate is cooking, measure out the wax/parchment paper to the cookie sheet.

Spreading the Chocolate

Quickly pour the chocolate onto the cookie sheet, in a pile. Don't forget to scrape the sides of the bowl!

Take the spatula and spread the chocolate into any shape you like, and as thick or thin as you prefer.

The thinner it is though, the more likely it could break especially with heavier candies like candy corn. Mine is about 1/4 an inch thick, but in some areas I spread it too thin to more like 1/8 an inch thick.

Decorating!

Finally! My favorite part... Decorating!!!

Take the candy corn, Reese's Pieces or M&M's, sprinkles, and anything else you want to add to it, that's Halloween or Harvest themed.

Once that's all done, put the chocolate bark in the refrigerator for 12-15 minutes, [ If the chocolate hasn't cooled completely in that time, leave it in for an additional 5 minutes ].

Store the wrapped bark in the refrigerator up to three weeks.

Breaking the Bark

Once the chocolate is totally cooled, break in into smaller pieces, any size or shape is fine.

Sad, isn't it? This project has come to an end, but we finally get to try it!!

I hope you successfully made this project and you have a Happy Halloween and Harvest time!
