Hair Care While at the Beach

Being on vacation at the beach can significantly dry out your hair, making it unmanageable. With a few products and this simple routine, you'll be able to look and feel good while on vacation.
Supplies

For this tutorial, you will need a few hair care products. I have included a link to the ones that I prefer, as they work for my hair. Additionally, grab a wide-tooth comb for ease in detangling and preventing breakage.

Salt water and the wind on the beach can cause your hair to become dry and tangled. Before getting in the shower, use your wide-tooth comb to detangle.
Tip: Brushing from the ends of your hair and working your way to your scalp will help reduce hair loss and breakage.
Shampoo: Double Cleanse
Now that your hair is detangled, we can go into cleansing your hair. You will follow the steps below.
- Apply a quarter-size amount of Paul Mitchel's Shampoo One in your hands and rub them together to create a paste.
- Under the running water, apply shampoo at your roots and massage the product onto your scalp as this creates a lather. Tip: Avoid applying the shampoo directly onto the ends of your hair, as this can further dry out the ends of your hair.
- While rinsing, massage your scalp to ensure you are removing excess buildup and sand that may be in your hair.
- Repeat this step one more time.
Condition Your Strands
Using conditioner may seem straightforward forward however, there are a few things to keep in mind. Following these steps, you are putting your hair and scalp health first.
- Apply Paul Mitchel's The Detangler on the ends of your hair, working the conditioner up the hair shaft.
- Avoid applying conditioner to your scalp as this can cause buildup and make your roots greasy.
- Using your wide-tooth comb, evenly distribute the product by brushing from the midshaft of your hair down.
- Let the conditioner sit for 1-2 minutes and rinse with cool water to seal the hair shaft.
After Shower Care

This step is just as vital as the ones above. For the last step, we will be incorporating the last two products that will deliver healthy and moisturized hair. After your hair is towel dried, follow these steps to lock in hydration and restore your hair to a healthy state.
- Shake your Amika Hydo Rush Intense Moisture Leave-In Conditioner and then spritz on your ends and mid-hair shaft.
- Take your wide-tooth comb and begin evenly distributing the product.
- Grab your Redkin One United and spritz evenly over your hair, and brush with your wide-tooth comb.
Optional Steps
While this step is not a necessity but if you are in a pinch and need to have your hair done before attending a dinner or event, you can blow dry your hair. Amika and Redikin have heat-protectant properties. If you can relax and not be in a rush for time, allowing your hair to air dry reduces heat damage.
