HOW TO PUT a LITTLE WOBBLE IN YOUR PVC BIRD
You only need piece of scrap material of your choosing. Wood and plastic worked for me. A scrap piece of hollow rod or tube. A coat hanger.
GET STARTED
I am a fan of the PVC Bird makers. There are great INSTRUCTABLES available to get you started.
I have noticed there is new generation of Birds that can wobble with the breeze and add additional entertainment for the maker. But, I also notice some of the HOW-TO pages have now become pay to learn type sites and were not sharing knowledge of how the “wobbler” was created. I thought it might be something off-the-shelf that bird-makers had found. After many hours searching the web I came up with bupkus.
So, I decided to make my own. This is how you, too, can put a little wobble in your Bird.
Supplies are simply a piece of wood or plastic which is of the suitable width for your bird, y large egrets wobble on a 1 inch long by 5/8th inch U-shaped piece), a 3-4 inch hollow tube/rod (plastic or metal), and a piece of coat hanger wire.
Saw the piece of wood into a squared U-Shape with the center cutout to provide space for the rod to rotate inside the U.
Find your drill bit sized to the diameter of the coat hanger wire. Drill holes in the left and right legs of the U which allow the rod to pivot inside the U. Determine where to drill holes in your tube/rod so that the pivot will not snag on the U.
Cut coat hanger wire to length needed to go through one side of the U, through the tube/rod and then the other side of the U.
Bird designs vary so you will need to determine where the balance point is for your bird. Glue the U to that spot. Allow to dry thoroughly so your bird will not take flight in the wind.
Use a wire stake for locating the bird in your chosen location. The wire stake should be sized to allow the hollow tube/rod to slide down and allow for rotation of your bird.
Sit back, wait for the breeze to add Wobble to your masterpiece.
Ready to WOBBLE
Success means you have 180 degree swing.
