WHAT IS PARKOUR?
FOR ME; The parkour is our exercise for and it stretch the bones of our body.It measure the
ability how a person make own decision to shortcut the way to it destination.This is
a extreme sports like a skateboarding ,and riding in a BMX.
FROM GOOGLE;
Parkour is a movement philosophy which was developed in twentieth century France. It is a bit difficult to define parkour, since it integrates several disciplines; it could be said to be a sport, a hobby, and a philosophy. Essentially, parkour is about learning to navigate obstacles, and rethinking the use of one's body and the use of public spaces. Some practitioners of parkour believe that the techniques they learn in the practice of this sport also carry over into their daily lives, making them more courageous and confident with obstacles ranging from disagreements in the office to more personal emotional challenges.
The earliest form of parkour was developed by Georges Hebert, a French naval officer who served during the First and Second World Wars. As he served France, he also traveled, and he was struck by the efficient, flowing gymnastic movements of some of the African tribes he visited. When he returned to France, he started to develop a method of natural movement for members of the military, in which men and women were encouraged to move efficiently and effectively around a wide variety of obstacles. The méthode naturelle began to be regularly taught, setting the stage for the development of parkour.
One of the founding figures of parkour is David Belle, who was taught the méthode naturelle by his father in the 1980s. Belle coined the term “parkour,” which is derived from parcours du combattant, an obstacle course which is used to train members of the French military. Parkour is also known as l'art du déplacement, which translates as “the art of displacement,” and some people simply call it “PK.” Someone who practices parkour is known as a traceur, or a traceuse if she is female.
THE HISTORY OF PARKOUR;
THE SUMMARY OF VIDEO:
Parkour is thought of by some as a sport but it's founders consider it as more of a lifestyle and state of mind. Parkour is also known to some as free running, but regardless of what you choose to call it, it is amazing! Our expert, a founding member of Texas Parkour, is adept in this art. Watch this video series to learn all about this high flying art based partially off of gymnastics. Not only will you learn about the history of this sport but also watch as he demonstrates many different techniques. The Cat, the Kong vault and Wall Running are just a few of the techniques that you will see. You will also learn freestyle moves that, although not part of Parkour, are very popular amongst free running enthusiasts. Check out these techniques and learn more about this up-and-coming sport by watching these videos.
THE TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO:
"Hi! I'm Matthew Willis with Texas Parkour. I would like to tell you a little of the terms today and a little bit about the safety. Now parkour is a french word and it means obstacle coursing loosely. I am butchering the words of course and there is also another term that we like to use traceurs and in french it means the bullet or bullet and that is what we generally call ourselves; the practitioners of parkour. Parkour originated in France with a couple of people. Generally the name that you will hear is David Bell. He is the actual founder. David Bell, he started out this movement. It started in France. The actual movement it came from was art of displacement. I'm butchering the name but it is french and it is about trying to find a way of displacing what it is around you and in parkour what you are trying to do is you are trying to find your pleasure. It is a great thing to try to do whether you understand the philosophy or not. The most important thing to do is understand the history. David Bell, when he was 14, he and a couple of his friends left school to actually pursue this great philosophy that was created by his father and him, William Bell. It was used in the french military and they just kind of took it to the next step and it is 100 percent efficiency through urban movement. Now the main thing you want to realize is with parkour it is the philosophy that defines the movements. The movements does not define the philosophy and that is the main thing you want to understand when you are doing parkour. Now you might see parkour in football. You might see parkour in swimming because people say that you are using your 100 percent efficiencies through these different things. Now this is not 100 percent accurate because you have to have the mind set of parkour. You have to know what parkour is. You have to know where it came from and to actually understand what you are doing. So yes they might be doing these techniques but what you want to know is the mind set and that is what is really going to help you overcome your obstacles and become a better traceur.
DID YOU KNOW ;
He is a leader of parkour in BRGY.Talon Tres ,Las Pinas City,Maynila,PHILIPPINES.
THE POUNDER OF PARKOUR;
David Belle (born 29 April 1973) is a French soldier largely credited as the founder of parkour, a specialised physical discipline of training. He is also a physical educator[citation needed], stuntman and actor. His military training and early athletic, climbing, gymnastic, and martial arts training acted as the foundations for the discipline he has developed.
David Belle was born and raised in Fécamp, France. He descends from a modest family in the suburbs of Paris. His grandfather Gilbert Kitten, father Raymond Belle, and brother Jeff Belle have been highly skilled rescuers in the French military fire service[1][2].
He spent the first 14 years of his life in Fécamp and later in Les Sables d'Olonne, a time during which he demonstrated a taste for action and fast movement. He excelled in athletics, climbing, gymnastics and martial arts. He was strongly inspired by his maternal grandfather Gilbert Kitten who evoked in him a passion for heroism and helping other people.
In 1988, at the age of 15, Belle left school and moved to Lisses, Paris to begin his national service. In this time he obtained his French national First Aid certificate and UFOLEP certificate of gymnastics leadership. He made close friends with a group of teenagers with a similar physical passion, who later became the Yamakasi (Yann Hnautra, Frédéric Hnautra, David Balgogne, Sébastien Foucan and Kazuma). After joining the fire brigade with aspirations of following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps, he was temporarily discharged due to a wrist injury and did not return for personal reasons.
He later joined the Troupes de marine in Vannes, where he received a promotion, a gymnastic agility certificate of honour, and champion records for Regimental rope-climbing (which his father had once held) and the Essonne obstacle course. He has however said that his taste and love for adventure and freedom did not go well with the regimented life of the military[3].
Upon completing his national service, he worked in various professions including a warehouse worker, security guard and furniture salesman. He then flew to India and obtained a Black Belt in kung fu[citation needed]. After his return he began promoting his discipline by filming footage of his capabilities. In 1997 the Stage 2 team (Francis Marroto, Pierre Sleed and Pierre Salviac) were shown a video and decided to create a film about Belle and parkour, in a series of his collaborations with 'the speed-air man', 'catmen', 'la Relève' and 'les traceurs'. The word 'traceur' has since been used to define a practitioner of parkour.
Belle was first introduced to his acting career in a meeting with Hubert Koundé (La Haine), in order to discuss the success of parkour on the big screen. He then began developing his acting ability with the play Pygmalion, and has since been successful in obtaining a number of roles mostly in French films and promotions. Belle has been featured in promotional videos for Tina Turner, and Iam. He has starred in "Les gens du voyages" and "Un monde meilleur", followed by "L'Engrenages" and "Femme Fatale", as well as "Les rivières pourpres 2", starring Jean Reno. After filming several more advertisements and promotions for the BBC, Nissan, Coca-Cola, and Nike, Belle was contacted by Luc Besson (director of Nikita, and The Fifth Element) regarding co-starring as lead actor with Cyril Raffaelli in the action movie District 13, followed by the sequel District 13: Ultimatum.

"Hi! My name is Matthew Willis and we've come to a bit of the equipment time. Now the best thing about parkour is that you need really no equipment at all. All you need is a good pair of sneakers you can run in and you are ready to go. Now if you want to be more of an enthusiast and you want to take care of yourself a little bit better, you are going to try and do a couple of things to protect your health along with your scrapes and bruises and things like that. The first thing I am going to show you is the sports ulcer. Every traceur usually has his keys or his cell phone, or a wallet or at least ID. You should always carry an ID with you when you are doing parkour. So this is the sports ulcer. It has packages of little pockets and everything. It even has a little place to put your keys and there are secret pockets here and when you look in the back, you can also put things here. Now you don't want to do that because when you are doing rolls, it will definitely interfere but if you are just running, it is going to be okay. Another thing is a polysorb. This is an insole that you can put inside of your shoe. Now the polysorb my Spenco is the best one that I have seen. It really helps you with impacts and landings and if you want to save your feet from any potential damaging things. These are washable and they last for quite a long time. I've had mine for over a year now and its been great. The next we have this little gadget here and it is a knee support. It's made by McDavid. That is the only one that I have seen but it helps for ____ slaughter syndrome and a bunch of jumpers and other things like that. You can see it on my knee and you can put it right below here and it really helps with keeping your knee cap in place and not sliding. It is really important. Another thing is you can wear gloves if you like. Most hard core traceurs don't usually use gloves but when you are first starting out you might want to use a heavy duty type glove. Make sure that things are cut out because you will fall if you are trying to catch on to a ledge. it is not really good. If it is raining outside, it's not going to help anything like that. Another you can try is wrist support. You are impacting your wrist a lot and you can find any type of simple wrist support that will help you out. It is going to keep your wrist from getting injured, carpal tunnel and other things like that. It is really helpful. For the last thing, you want to try and get a really good pair of shoes. Now here I am using the Morrell shoe. There are a lot of different types of shoes you can use out there. These can run you up to $110. The grip is for using wall runs and other activities such as that. Another one is the Hyper Ride. It's this shoe right here. it looks a little neater, not much grip but it has got great cushioning as you can see right here and they are made by Adidos and they are pretty good. It is need in parkour to roll, because it less the weight of a traceur.

THE TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO:
"What I am going to show you a little bit now is the safety because safety is the number one thing that you need to understand aside the mind set when doing parkour. There are different types of landing and rolls that you want to do. You want to learn it on the grass, gravel, cement, whatever you can do and you want to try and do it as sufficiently as possible. Another thing is the flow. With parkour, it's not about doing one simple movement. It was invented to try and overcome different kinds of obstacles to try to get to an injured person originally or to save someone or yourself the fight or flight method and what I am going to show you now is the roll. This is really important. There are different techniques but I will show you my technique here today. What you are going to do to practice your roll is you are going to crouch down to one knee and then you are going to use your hands and you can even roll right on the side of your arm. The most important thing of the roll is you are going to roll from one shoulder to the opposite hip so that you cannot connect any part of the spine because this will cause problems on cement, on grass and other things like that and you do not want to injure your spine. So first of all you want to when you are coming into a roll, you are going to put your hands down, put them behind you or wherever you want but generally you are going to just put it down and roll and you are going to come up just about like this to get up; just like that. When actually doing the roll, you do not want to put your knee down in any time of the roll so you are going to use your hands just to brace a little bit and you don't want to collapse into your roll. You want to stay strong in your roll, strong in your roll just enough to take a little bit of the pressure off of a jump a gap, anything you might be doing. It is going to be quick and efficient; just like that. "

Parkour Safety; Landings
By; WARENEUTRON
The another basic movement in parkour is landigs,It is use in little higher place
and you also a safety rolls when it medium higher places.
THE TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO:
"With landings off of higher drops that you don't exactly have to roll on, you should roll on basically anything that is over your height and that's just a basic rule. So with your landings on objects that are a little higher, you're going to want to get kind of a wide base, you want to land right on your toes, not on the top of your toes, right on the ball of your feet. You don't want your heels to actually come in contact with the ground and you're going to land with your hands right here right in the middle and it's going to take a little bit of the pressure off. You don't want your knees too wide, because that's going to cause tearing in through here and in your knees. Generally when you land you want to be crouched over a little bit and you don't want to do, you want to just do just a little bit more than a 90 degree angle with your knee, because you start to get into some type of tearing and stress on the knees that you really don't want, now in Parkour you're going to have stress on anyway. But this is to help you prevent and you're just going to land here, put your hands down and that's basically one of the best landings you can do."

You can reach us at www.texasparkour.com.Today I am going to be showing you a bunch of different techniques and warm-ups and drills along with this new sport art discipline called parkour or free running. Today I am going to be showing you just a little bit about the warm-up called the monkey walk. You can incorporate stretches or different kinosetic type activities to just get you warmed up and ready for the day. This is again the monkey walk. It's been kind of coined by a man named Forest. He is on a team at the UK right now and it's the urban free flow and you can reach them at their website. So it is just a little bit of just a quadrupedal motion. What you are going to do is just get down on all fours and you are going to feel the ground. It can be cement, grass whatever you want to get warmed up for the day. You are going to feel the ground. You are just going to start moving. You can incorporate stretches and strength. You know, just stretch my hamstring here or you can stretch your soleus and incorporate strength by different types of yoga positions just going up. You always want to practice your rolls off of both shoulders and that's the monkey walk. "

Why it is called simple vault? because it is so simple ,even if 5 years old can do this but,I suggest you listen carefully

TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO;
"The urban movement that I am going to try and explain to you right now is called the simple vault. It is one of the most used vaults of all traceurs. You are going to be trying to get over the object using both hands and you are going to take and raise your hip up vertical over the object. It is probably what you would do normally if you are a little kid or just trying to get over an object But you place both hands down or one hand and you are just going to try and throw yourself up and over the object using your shoulders to push you up and over. Also when you try and begin this move, you are going to try and step in to it or you can punch. It's more of a style but you are going to be able to have more flow and efficiency if you actually step in and out of the move and remember to always push out of your toes. "

"The Kong vault is a little bit different. You can take off with one foot for distance; that's what most traceurs do or you can punch with both feet. You can do both. It's mainly your style. With this one is very similar to the monkey vault but what you are going to be doing is you are actually going to be punching and you are going to be diving into your monkey vault. So you will punch, place your hands down, do a good shoulder refletion with your shoulders while pushing and you are going to bring through your feet through your hands and over your object and you are going to landing in a step out position. So you will punch, place your hands down, do a good shoulder refletion with your shoulders while pushing and you are going to bring through your feet through your hands and over your object and you are going to landing in a step out position. Parkour Training; Lazy Vault
By; WARENEUTRON
Why it is called lazy vault? because the traceur is lazy ?No,no,no! i'm just joking ! because your
move must be lazy with less of side vault. It is useful vault .
TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO;
"Hello! This is Matthew Willis with Texas Parkour and here is another demonstration of urban movement. What we are going to be doing again today is just try and show you the different types of vaults. This one is a very useful vaults. You will find it a lot of times on rails and other ledges but it is called a lazy vault. With this vault it is very similar like to a dash vault. What you are going to be doing is run at the object and you are going to be doing almost a simple vault and then right before you head all the way over the object, you are going to place down your other hand and push away from the object. This helps you to try to spot landings in case you are going to do a precision or other technical comboing skills. "

By; WARENEUTRON
Why it is called dash vault ? It is so fast like a lightning. The dash vault you have you to use your whole
body to cross a object , like on video that must you learn from Mathew Willis.It is a another useful vault.

"Hello! This is Matthew Willis with Texas Parkour and I am going to show you another demonstration of an urban movement called the dash vault. What you are going to be doing is it is going to be close to you jumping straight over the object but before you land on the other side, you are going to throw your hands back and push yourself away from the object. This is very similar to the lazy ball because you are going to try to be finding and spotting where you are going to be landing or comboing into another move. "

By; WARENEUTRON
The traveling kong vault is little different from kong vault, because the traveling kong vault is
have little side move while kong vault is straight moving on object, It is dangerous vault !
TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO;
"Hi! This Matthew Willis with Texas Parkour. I am going to be showing you again another urban movement. This has been coined by different types of groups but mainly it is called quadra pedal motion and there is one specific vault that comes out of quadra pedal motion. You can guess quadra pedal motion is using all four's and you are going to be moving through your environment like this; like a gorilla, like a monkey, any type of animalistic kind of behavior and you are just going to be placing, traveling, with both hands moving simultaneously with either your feet up or your feet down to take you more efficiently through your obstacle. Parkour Training; Precisions
By; WARENEUTRON
Precisions is you have to jump from one object to another object.The precision is usually use in
two higher place like, by jumping from the above of roof of house to another roof of house ,It is commonly
used on walls and jump to another place. It is another useful vault.
TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO;
"Hi! I'm Matthew Willis and I am with Texas Parkour and I am going to be talking to you a little bit about precisions today. Precisions are going to take lots of balancing skills and just straight out nerves and conquering of your fears. A lot of times these are done with ledges or with rails, so what you want is a good grippy shoe. Make sure that your shoes are not wet before you try to approach a rail. In doing a precision, what you are going to want to do is get mostly up on the balls of your feet before you jump. When you jump, you are going to band crouching not more than 90 degree angle with your knees and you are going to push away from the object. When you push away from the object, you want to get in a nice touch position in the air and spot your landing. When you are landing, you want to either land some what close to the back of your foot; somewhere in the middle of your foot almost and you are going to be propelling your arms backwards behind you. This is to stabilize you and to get you so that you can actually land and stay on the rail. While precisioning. you are going to try and do different types of things. You can do vault to precisions; one of those urban movements that I talked to you about earlier and what you are going to be doing is you are going to be actually trying to spot as much as you can to the actual mark that you are going to be landing on. A lot of times you are going to be vaulting a ledge or a rail and you are going to be landing on a ledge or a rail, curb or other things like that. When you are trying to get down, you can do something like a turn vault and you will be up on top of a rail or ledge and then you are going to do almost a 180 and re-grasp into a cat that I talked about earlier. Parkour Training; the Cat Leap
By; WARENEUTRON
It is called the cat, because it is look like the movement of cat. for that the tarceur use this as
movement to reach each destination, this movement is so useful to other vault ,because this vault is
commonly used to combine the other vaults to make your own freestyle moves.
TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO;
"Hi! I am Matthew Willis and I am with Texas Parkour. Here we are again just trying to explain some of the techniques, some of the urban movements within parkour. Right now we are going to be doing what we call the cat and you are going to use these lot of these urban movements a lot of the time to get through your environment with most efficiency as possible. So if you are going to start doing the cat what you are going to need to do, is approach the object with your feet first. This is really important because it is going to stabilize you if you are going to be doing a large gap or if you are going to fallen from a substantial distance, you want to try to embrace some of the wall so that you don't impact with your hands too much. So what you are going to do is run and your feet are going to hit just a tiny bit before your hands and you are going to latch onto the walls. There are different ways. You can reach over with one hand, you can just reach around the edge; it depends on your style. After that you are going to use the wall to get up and over your object or you are going to drop down. In order to get up and over your object, you usually you take one foot and base it on the wall and with your other foot you are going to kick up and out with your heel so that you can get enough momentum to go up and over your obstacle and while you are on the other side you just take off. Parkour Training; Wall Running
By; WARENEUTRON
The wall run is use on the wall,It is gives your more force to climb or walk on wall faster by using run.
I suggest when you use this , you have to run faster and run on the wall as possible by testing 2 steps and
test 3 steps,if you can 4 or more steps on the wall, You have complete practicing the wall run. Take note
use Morell shoes to heavy grip.
TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO;
"Hi! This is Matthew Willis again with Texas Parkour and I am going to be showing you another urban movement which helps you get through your environment with 100 percent efficiency. What I am going to be showing you today a tic tac or wall run or just attack. These are used often times to try to get you up and over an object such as stairs or even a trash can or a bench. To try to explain this a little bit what you are going to need to do is practice a little bit. You can practice with one hand up against the wall, while trying to wall run and once you are a little bit more advanced you can try and do this without using your had. You are going to try and get a good grippy pair of shoes for this otherwise it won't work very well. You can slide down the wall and end up hurting yourself. Remember to check our your areas always before you continue any of these urban movements. Again when you are trying to do the tic tac or wall run depends on which style you are going to use. Often times you can do just a tac which is one foot. You are going to plant it and you are going to be somewhat close to the wall. You are going to be hitting it with the side of your foot right there on the edge of your foot mostly and you are going to be attacking up and away from the wall. There are also the 2 foot wall run and usually you would start with your off foot so that you can push off with your power foot which is going to be the closest of the wall. Now if you are going to try a 3 foot tac or wall run, generally what you are going to do is start with your good foot and then you are going to hit with your bad foot again and so you can push up and away from the wall as much as possible. TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO;
"Hi! This is Matthew Willis again with Texas Parkour. Today I am going to show you guys a little bit of these free style moves that are incorporated in the parkour. They are not actually parkour movements but they are always fun to do for all your parkour tricksters out there. This is the official disclaimer, these are not actual parkour moves but they are always fun to train and practice in real situations. The first one is a wall spin and in order to do this move, it is a lot like a cartwheel against the wall and when doing this move, you are going to place both hands against the wall while you punch off the ground and you are going to rotate yourself with both hands across the wall vertically. Your bottom hand is going to be your posting hand and that is the hand that you are going to be pushing the most against and that is your stable hand. The next move is the palm spin and the palm spin what you do is a lot like gymnastics and it is also a lot like the wall spin. You are going to post your one arm against a ledge or a wall and then you are going to scoot the rest of your body along with your other hand. This is a lot like the wall spin because you are trying to project yourself up and over the object but in a vertical sense not completely over it. Fun flips can be somewhat practical but not at all. You can do fun flips down stairs; you can do fun flips pretty much where you want, down the gaps. Again you are using more energy than you would normally to be getting down these obstacles so it is not 100 percent efficient.
