HOW TO MAKE CHILLI OIL
This is a delicious and very rewarding project. A nice thing about chilli oil is that you can change many things so as to alter its taste; such as using more/less chillies and by adding your own ingredients - if you like.
My dad is the chilli oil master and he has taught me how to make this. I hope that you enjoy making and eating this as much as I do.
HAVE FUN!
Supplies
Equipment
- Spoon
- Jar
- Scissors
- Serrated knife
- Cutting board
Ingredients
- Chillies (the hotter they are the hotter the chilli sauce will be)
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic
Ready Equipment and Ingredients
This is the best way to start a project. With everything visible and neat you make the making process more fun end easy.
Choose Jar and Olive Oil Amount
Just a quick thing: before continuing with the project, you must think of how much chilli oil and what ratio of chillies to oil you want. I myself use a smallish jar with about double as much oil as chilli (2:1).
Cut Chillies
Thinly slice the chillies into small rings about as thick as a regular coin. You can use whatever chillies you like but choose wisely because you wouldn't want a chilli sauce with ghost chillies! I would use jalapeƱo chillies or bird's eye chillies. Then place the chilli rings into your jar.
Just a slight warning: Do not scratch your face while cutting chillies because it will hurt.
Finely Slice Garlic
Finely slice the garlic into relatively small pieces and place into your jar. Like with the chillies, wash your hands after slicing the garlic and do not rub your face.
Add Salt and Pepper
Add a generous amount of salt and pepper (not too much though) and place in your jar.
Mix
Stir briskly until you are satisfied that it is thoroughly mixed.
Enjoy ;)
Now you can enjoy the fruits of your labor. It is best enjoyed in a salad or on toast. Just take care... I you have been too enthusiastic and have put in more chillies than advised then it might be a little burny. It also gets stronger with time.
Thank you!
