HOMEMADE CROSSBOW PISTOL
MATERIALS
in order to make your own crossbow you will need :
# wooden plank
# bike brakes cable
# PVC pipe
# wooden dowel/stick for arrows
# aluminium rod for trigger
all of these can be found in your local hardware shops( i get my materials from B&Q)
CUT OUT STOCK FOR YOU XBOW
draw a outline of x-bows stock and cut it out using a jigsaw, make sure you wear protective equipment when working with power tools. The shape can be more detailed if you desire. :)
CARVE OUT a SLIDE FOR ARROW
Using a chisel carefully carve a slide for an arrow as shown. And a place to catch string of a bow as shown.
I hope it makes sense, if not then watch a video for detailed images and steps. You may want to sand stock down so you don't get any splinters. :)
MAKE a BOW AND ARROWS
Cut a PVC pipe long enough and so it is proportional to your bow. Then cut both ends of a pipe as shown, to be able to place your cable in cuts. Tie both ends of a cord in knot as shown. Then
bend PVC pipe in bow shape and hook other knot in other side of PVC cut as shown. :) Don't hesitate to ask questions.
ATTACH BOW TO THE STOCK
Using a handheld saw, cut out a piece out of stock deep enough to be able to fit two bows. Then find a piece of wood as thick as your bow and glue it in place perpendicularly using hot glue as shown. After glue gets hard place a thick layer of hot glue on top of perpendicular piece of wood like you see in the picture.and glue your bow to it. After to be safe secure it with some cable ties or a string. :-)
IMPORTANT ATTACHMENTS & TRIGGER
The power of the bow can split wood and it will be useless. to prevent that you may want to as plastic or metal bit like I did, so when you hook string it sits in place and slips off easily when you pull the trigger. This bring us to a release mechanism, or trigger. I used an aluminium rod and bent it like you can see in the pictures. Must admit it wasn't easy to figure out shape that works, but at the end it is easier then you think.
ATTACH TRIGGER AND ARROW HOLDER
In this last step, you'll need to attach trigger using a screw and some washers. So when you pull the trigger it pushes string up. Then cut out a piece of wood and experiment with its thickness, a piece will hold an arrow secure so it doesn't fall out when you carry your x-bow. But keep in mind an arrow still needs to slide out with as little friction as possible. This piece you see in the last picture is very straight forward, therefore I will not explain in details how to make it. but if you have any questions please ask me in comment section bellow.
