STAR_WARS_Droid_Concept

Droid was an evolving concept. Firstly it was meant to be a battle droid, but then I thought about a type of droid that I think wasn't showcased in the world of Star Wars. H3-RD is afterall meant as a droid to accompany, defend and help with breeding Banthas. Concept started with designing the core element, which is head inside of Maya to later expand it into the whole silhouette with a simple blockout. Later it was just about adding necesserry details such as tools which are zapper / scomp link as well as holo projector. Every element of the design was created with a backstory and use case in mind. Big eye accompanied by smaller one next to it is designed to convey that the droid is meant to spot any possible threats when it looks after Banthas. Inspired by Japanese Kasa, head shape is meant as source of shade for tattooine faarmers, zapper is meant for control over more hot-headed Banthas and holo projector is designed to make it easier for farmers to communicated between each-other, which is accompanied by antenna on top of the head of the droid. With textures I thought about harsh environment on Tatooine and how old of a design this droid is meant to be, since I've assigned him as a droid made originally by the Republic which is still being used in a current Star Wars timeline. Overall I wanted to create a droid that is not only unique in it's designed use case but one that conveys a larger story.
