Gym Model *Update

Hello, this is my entry into this contest. This is my first time using 3-d modeling software and I spent most of my time learning how it works. I guess my approach was more of a commercial stock gym with the addition to much of the equipment being allowed for people mainly in wheelchairs. Many of the models were made by others and were either tweaked or kept the same. Also in some pictures there are wheelchairs, those are for scale. The gym has walls made of bricks, a roof made of metal and an interior made of concrete and wall plaster. I'm guessing mine is not going to be as good as everyone else but I tried :). This gym is low cost to construct and doesn't require much employees.

This gym includes; Cash register, washroom, janitor's closet, lockers, mountain climbers, wheel chair treadmills and non wheel chair treadmills, barbells, weights, lounge, a pool, a parking lot and a jogging track.

Update #1: I designed a new exterior after practicing a little more and in my opinion it looks way better than my old one. Its entrance has been largened though as to let wheelchair users have more room entering and exiting. There is a large weight topped on the roof to signify it is a gym. I might add a sign.

Update #2: Added a sign

Update #3: Added a parking lot

Update #4: Adding a Jogging track

Update #5: Adding Treadmills for non wheelchair users.

Update #6: Better Washroom and washroom layout.

Update #7: Janitors closet

Cash Register

The cash register area includes a computer, cash register and a potted plant. The computer is for registering new costumers into the gym's database.

Washrooms

In the washroom there is 1 toilet, 2 sinks, one for wheelchair users and one for people who don't use wheel chairs, and 2 hand dryers. Since this is a gym I imagine that there would be more than one washroom so this will be the basic layout for each. I didn't really want to go for washroom stalls and maybe have 3 or 4 of these would work.

Update: I made a new washroom design which looks relatively the same with the exception of a new gripping pole, a mirror, a light above the mirror, toilet paper, and an emergency button just in case if there is a problem in the bathroom. The floor is tiled and the walls are made of plaster. For the layout There is a hallway which leads to 4 washroom units and the janitor closet (in the next step). At the entrance there are two garbage bins. All doors will have a Handicap Door Push Button for people in wheelchair to easily access washrooms.

Janitor's Closet

This is the closet shown in the layout for the washrooms. Inside are cleaning supplies, soap. toilet paper and towels.

Lockers

Picture 3 gym.png

The lockers are just your average highschool style lockers, Nothing special. A combination lock that will be given to you when you register. I imagine there might be a few more of these.

Mountain Climbers

Picture 4 gym.png

I'm pretty sure these are called mountain climbers, correct me if I'm wrong. A set of 3, we could add more. These are for people who aren't in wheelchairs.

Wheelchair Treadmills and Non-wheelchair Treadmills

Wheelchair Treadmills are just Treadmills made for wheelchairs. They are larger and work kind of similar to a normal treadmill with a few exceptions. We will have around four of these.

Just search on Google "Wheelchair Treadmills" as you'll get the just of how tthey look and work.

Edit: Added less crude model of how the treadmill looks.

Update: I added 5 Treadmills for non-wheelchair users as well. The design is just a really crude model of a NordicTrack T Series Treadmill.

Barbells

picture 6 gym.png

These are barbells but have been lowered for the use of Wheelchair users. We will have around three of them. I assume that also non wheelchair users will also be able to use these.

Weights

picture 7 gym.png

Some weights. Should be easy for people who are and aren't in wheelchairs.

Lounge

picture 8 gym.png

Next we have the lounge, which consists of a coffee maker, water dispenser, a fridge, two couch's and a few carpets.

Pool

picture 9 gym.png

The pool is just your everyday pool with the addition of a wheelchair ramp. It is very shallow and in case of an emergency, there will be employees near it.

Parking Lot

parking lot.png

I updated this instructable to add a parking lot because I notice that many people including me didn't add it, even though its a pretty important part. There is 10 Accessible parking areas, indicated by the yellow square. There is 18 regular parking spots. A ramp is made to access the walkway.

Jogging Track

jogging track.png

This jogging track is just a simple grass path, with some plants and shrubs here and there. There are three benches for people to sit down and rest. A fence covers the entire property now.
