Gym - James Develin

This gym is created in the mindset of a place for people to go if they are recovering from an injury. We did research on some of the best exercise equipment for this type of gym, and that is what we have made sure to include in our design. In the time that we had, we made sure that it was the best work we could put out.

Base

Our base was the first step to our design. We created a simple building shape, with the dimensions we thought would be good for our gym. We then made holes in the walls for spots we wanted windows and doors.

Entry Way

Next, we created the stairs and a ramp that would be used to get inside the gym. We decided to go with the simple everyday stairs, that you could find at any place. Then, we decided it was important to add a ramp. We felt that this would allow a person who can not walk up stairs, because of an injury, to be able to still access our gym.

Adding to the Structure

Next, we decided to add a room and an outside pool area. For the room, we decided to have clear walls, to let in natural light, and to give a view into the pool area. For the pool area, we made a simple platform to fit what we had in mind for our pool.

After doing some research we decided to start creating what we thought would be best for our gym.

1. Treadmills - Treadmills help to enhance coordination and strength, so we made sure to include them in our design. We used the shapes provided on our Autodesk program, to create the closest resemblance to a treadmill we could. After, we choose the colors for each part of the treadmill and grouped all the pieces together. Then, to ensure each treadmill was the same we duplicated them.

2. Stationary Bikes - Stationary Bikes are great for your upper and lower body. Due to this, we got straight to work on building some. We created our own shapes and used some of the ones provided by the program to create the bike. After the building of it was done, all the colors were chosen. Last, we grouped everything together and made duplicates.

3. Dumbbells - Dumbbells are very good for targeting particular muscles in your body, making them a must-have for our gym. We created dumbbells with a few simple shapes, then decided to make different sizes(which are heavier or lighter than others depending on size.) Once, this was done it was time to make a shelf for our dumbbells. We created a shelf that could hold each different size that we included in our design. Then, we brighten everything up with some color. We choose a light purple for the dumbbells giving a touch of color to the gym. Last, we grouped everything together that had to be.

4. Yoga balls and mats - Yoga is a great way to help release pain, perfect for any person coming to a rehabilitation gym. We used simple shapes provided by the program to create the dumbbells. After that, we choose a few fun colors to give another pop of color to the gym. Last, anything that needed to be grouped was done so.

After all of this, we placed everything where we felt that it should go. We decided the yoga equipment would go perfectly in the room that we had created beforehand.

Next, we made a pool to go on the outdoor structure we had previously made. The pool is great for anyone recovering from injury. It is just above ground level making it easy to get right into. Just in case though, we have an easy ramp for people to use to slowly slide into the pool. Also, we have a normal set of ladder-like stairs, you would find at a normal pool, to use to get in or out if you wish to do so.

Front Desk

Like most places, we created a front desk for people to check-in at before they begin exercising.

Signs

Last, we went ahead and created signs for a few of the places we felt needed them. We made signs for the Check-In desk, the pool, and the yoga room.

The finished product turned out pretty good in our opinion, we are very proud of it.
