Gummy Sprite Bottle

Make a Sprite bottle that you can eat and enjoy.

Supplies

You will need: a pot, a spoon, 8 packets of unflavored gelatin, 6 oz. of lime Jello, duct tape, exacto knife, 20 ounce bottle of Sprite soda, a glass, scissors and water.

Prepare Container

First pour the soda into a glass. (Feel free to take sips of the soda while doing the next steps.) Then carefully remove the Sprite label. Save the label for later. Next cut a slit into the middle of the soda bottle with an exacto knife. The cut should be about 2 inches long. Finally duct tape over the slit you made. Make sure to press the tape to the bottle good and firm and smooth out any wrinkles or air bubbles. Wrinkles or bubbles in the tape will result in it leaking.

Add 500 Ml Water

Now you're ready to add 500 ml of water to the pot on the stove. Don't turn the burner on yet.

Add Gelatin

Next add the 6 oz. packet of lime Jello. Then the 8 packets of unflavored gelatin.

Stir

Turn the burner on to medium heat and stir until all the clumps are gone. I like to smoosh the clumps with the spoon against the side of the pot. This may take about 5 minutes.

When the clumps are all gone you are ready to pour the gelatin into the bottle.

Pour

Carefully pour the Jello mix into the bottle and be sure to fill it to the top. We didn't use a funnel but if you have one this would be a good time to get it out. Now add the cap and put the bottle into the fridge overnight.

Next Day

Take the bottle out of the fridge and remove all the duct tape.

Cut Away Plastic Bottle

Now take scissors and make small cuts on either side into the slits of the plastic bottle. Slowly peel away the plastic in the middle making more cuts as necessary. Be careful not to dent or cut the gummy!

Remove Top

Unscrew the bottle cap. Then slowly and carefully pull the top off.

Remove Bottom

IMG_0392.JPG

Make a few cuts into the top of the bottom portion with your scissors. Then slowly and carefully remove.

Behold the Gummy!

You should now be holding your very own soda gummy.

Add Label and Cap

The last step is to add your label and cap onto the gummy. The bottle on the left is the gummy creation and the bottle on the right is an empty Sprite bottle.

Finished Product

Great job! It looks like you can drink it but really you've gone from a liquid to a solid. Now go trick someone or better yet, eat up and enjoy.
