This project is a gumball machine that has been changed into a elaborate engineered way to make getting a gumball fun for the whole family.

Supplies

spark fun kit

Arduino uno

9g servo

(4) cardboard boxes 1x1x1 ft

pvc pipe 1 in diameter, 3 ft long

duct tape

gumball machine

nails or toothpicks

(2) 90 degree bent pvc pipes

Ziplock bag

chopstick

drill or Dremel

Cut the Boxes

take the three boxes and cut the faces out of one of the sides

Make Plinko

take one of the cutout sides and make it into a plinko board and take the nails and put them in in an alternating way that makes rows. Set them about an inch to a half inch apart. While doing this take a plastic ziplock bag and make a clear screen so the gumballs don't fall out.

Cutout Holes

cut a rectangular hole in the winning side and a hole that fits the pvc pipe in the loosing side of the bottom of the first box where the plinko board will go. in this rectangular hole make a v shaped channel to go in the winning side with a hole at the bottom so it can be attached to a clear tube.

Put Boxes Together

set that first box onto another and cut out the holes to match. place another and make another hole for the pvc pipe. Connect all of the boxed together with duct tape and insert the pvs pipe into the holes having it level with the inside of the top box. At the bottom of the pvc pipe make a slit so the gumball freely comes out at the bottom of the tube.

Make Gumball Stand

Make a cylindrical object that is the same width of the gumball machine but the length is just long enough so the gumball can go out the machine into a hole cut into the top of the cylinder. In this step also cut the front of the gumball stopper off so the gumballs freely come out, use a drill or Dremel to cut. Build and code the arduino and servo and place inside the stand and attach a chopstick to the button so it can be pressed from outside. attack the servo near the opening so it blocks the hole, and opens it when activated.

Make Winning Side for Gumball

To make the winning side of the box set the 90 degree pvc pipe and cut a hold out of the side where it will go through. At the end of the pipe outside of the box attack a rail made out of cardboard and duct tape. Attack the other 90 degree pvs pipe to the end of the rail and put a piece of cardboard at the end of the rail so the gum can stop. At the bottom of the next 90 degree make a pipe out if cardboard that will send the ball to the final tray. Make this tray able to catch the winning and loosing gumballs.
