DIY Multi Guitar Stand

Build a multiple guitar stand that welcomes bass and even a ukulele :-)

I enjoy everything about instructables and wanted to give a little back. I hope that you find this useful

Materials

1. White Oak
2. Leather
3. 3/8 dowels
4. Wood Glue
5. Tanner's Bond Contact Cement

Tools

1. QCAD (or any software that can read a .DXF file)
2. CNC (optional)
3. Jigsaw or Bandsaw
4. Tablesaw
5. Chisels
6. Lasercutter (optional)

To design the guitar stand I used Fusion360 and included a copy of the DXF file. There are 2 versions of the top piece feel free to use and/or modify it. All measurements are in inches, sorry to the rest of the world, but I'm an old American that uses the Imperial System. :-)

On CAD files I like to add each part on a separate layer with the parts' origin in the lower left corner.  This can look a mess when you veiw all the layers at once

To make the parts you could cut them the old fasion way or use a CNC.

I used my local makerspace's lasercutter to cut a template in acrylic. From the template, traced the pattern then bandsawed close to the line as possible. Then double sided taped the lasercut template to the piece and used a router with a trim bit to clean it up.

The dovetails are all hand cut. If you are interested in learning how to do hand cut dovetails, I highly recommend Rob Cosman's youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/RobCosmancom He's amazing and once you do it a few times you'll never go back to using a router.

Do a quick dry fit to make sure all the parts fit correctly before glueing.

The only parts that are glued are the dovetail peices. The rest are help in place by dowels. I wanted the feet to be able to move and self level on my uneven floors.

To protect the guitar I add some leather on all the surfaces that touch the guitar.
