Guitar Pick Necklace

I will be showing you how to make a guitar pick necklace.  This can be great for yourself, if you play guitar or bass, or it makes a great gift for a friend.

Materials

All you need is a guitar pick and a string. I used a string that was about two feet long.

Drilling

I used a drill press for this step, but you could also use a regular drill, it just won't turn out quite as nice. I used a 1/8 inch drill bit, but you may want bigger or smaller depending on what kind of string you have. To avoid scratching the pick, I used a napkin in the drill press vice. The pick will hang nicer if you make the hole towards the top, but don't make it too close, just in case you need to make it bigger.

Tying

All you need to do for this step is take your string and tie the ends together in a square knot, making a loop. You could also use a jewelry clasp, but I didn't have one on hand. After tying it, you will probably end up with some extra, as shown in the picture. If you snip off that extra it will look nicer.

Finishing

Stick the end of the loop, opposite of the knot, through the hole in the pick, then pull the knot through the loop you just made. Now you're finished and you can show off your new necklace!
