Guitar Amp Dust Cover Using Old T-shirts

Me as well as millions of people were confined at home thanks to the pandemic of Covid-19. Between projects and school work, the search to do something new starts to gain and occupy more and more of the dead time.Why not learn how to use the sewing machine that is stationary in the storage room?
And so my first sole sewing job was born, a dust cover for the amplifier using old T-shirts, but why t-shirts? First of all, we have t-shirts that don't fit us and are good quality material, and according to WWF to produce a cotton t-shirt you may need 2,700 litres of water for a t-shirt.

For our project we'll need :

• All-Purpose thread-(Since it can be used to sew most fabrics and its the most avaible thread.)
• Used Cotton T-Shirts- (The purpose of this project is only to re-use fabric, for outdoor applications it is advisable to choose resistant and waterproof materials.);
• Sewing Machine;
• Fabric Scissors;
• Straight pins;
• Needle;
• Chalk;
• Tailor Ruler.

To cut the fabric to make sure it looks perfect, we use (Figure 2) the measurements of the green lines for the front and back panels, and the red lines for the side panels. For the top panel, we use the smaller green and red lines.Once we have recorded the sizes, it is advisable to add 2-3 cm to have a certain clearance for sewing.
With the help of chalk and a ruler, we will trace the threads on the fabric and cut them very carefully to make sure that the threads are perfect. If they get a little off there is no problem as it can be disguised when sewn. Once all panels have been cut, it is advisable to use an iron in order to avoid deep creases.

Now that we have everything cut, it is necessary to temporarily clamp the panels to make sure that everything is adjusted correctly (this step can take time) using the pins. Once set, we use a needle and thread (in this case with a colour contrasting with black) to temporarily secure everything in place.
If the fabric folds up too much, it may be necessary to iron it before sewing on the sewing machine.

For the top handle, we cut the fabric and repeat the previous steps.

As I mentioned at the beginning, this is my first job using this equipment. As such, I recommend seeing this instructable which helps beginners a lot.

Sometimes problems arise with the parameters of the sewing machine, so before starting it is recommended to use fabric that will not be used to test and regulate the stitch and speed.

We should not rush this part , guaranteeing the right point allows a final result with more quality.

Once finished, it is advisable to wash the fabric and remove excess yarns and ensure they are safe.

For the first time working without supervision, I am very happy with the final result. Of course, there are things that can be improved, including adding new features ,maybe in a next instructable . The most important thing is to have fun learning something new
