Group Six's Super Cookies

Ingredients Needed to Complete the Cookies

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 and ¼ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ¾ cup of granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup of packed brown sugar

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (or two sticks) of butter, softened*

*To soften butter leave the stick out at room temperature for thirty minutes, or microwave the butter on either a defrost setting or at 10% of your microwave’s power.

Other Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

Equipment Needed to Complete the Cookies

  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 Small bowl
  • Measuring cup
  • Measuring spoons (specifically a teaspoon and tablespoon)
  • A hand mixer
  • Baking sheets
  • Wire cooling racks
  • An oven

Note: All ingredients and equipment needed to make the cookies can be found at your local super store such as Walmart, Target, etc.


Prep-time:

  • 20 minutes

Cook time (per batch):

  • 9-11 minutes

Total time to complete all batches:

  • Approximately 1 hour

Pre-Heat Oven

For the best results preheat your oven to 375° Fahrenheit.

  • Note: You should check that your oven is empty and that the baking racks are arranged to your preference before preheating.

In the SMALL Bowl...

Combine:

  • 2 and ¼ cups of all-purpose flour

In the LARGE Mixing Bowl...

Combine:

  • ¾ cup of granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup of packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (or two sticks) of butter, softened*

Beat the Mixture From Step 3 Until Creamy

With the hand mixer beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy as shown in the second picture.

Add Eggs to the Creamy Mixture

  • Add one egg to the creamy mixture made in step 4.
  • Using the hand mixer, beat the egg into the mixture well or until it is no longer visible.
  • Repeat the above steps with the second egg.

Add the Flour Mixture

  • Take the small bowl of flower, baking soda, and salt from step two.
  • Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamy mixture in the large mixing bowl while mixing it continuously with the hand mixer.
Helpful Tip: If you find this hard to do, either ask a friend to add the dry mix as you stir, or add portions of the dry mix while stopping to stir in between additions.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • By the end of this step ALL ingredients EXCEPT the chocolate morsels should have been used.
  • The resulting mixture should be a thick, creamy dough batter as seen in the final picture.

Add the Chocolate Morsels

  • Pour in the 2 cups of NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels.
  • Using a spoon mix the morsels into the dough until they are incorporated evenly throughout as seen in the last photo.

Form Dough Balls

  • Scoop tablespoon sized rounds of dough as seen in the first picture.
  • Drop these rounded dough balls onto non-greased baking sheets.
  • Dough balls should be spaced roughly two inches apart.

Place Cookies in Oven to Bake

Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove From Oven and Transfer to Cooling Racks

  • When cookies are fully cooked remove the baking sheet from the oven.
  • Allow for the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes.
  • After those two minutes move the cookies to the a wire rack where they will finish cooling.

Plate and Repeat

  • Once cookies are cooled they are ready to be plated and enjoyed!
  • Repeat steps 1 through 11 until all your dough has been baked, or freeze it for later.
