Green Beans Curry

This south Indian green beans curry can be enjoyed with Rice and/or Roti!

Ingredients

1. Toor Dal: 1/2 cup

2. Chana dal: 1/2 cup

3. Green Beans: 500 grams

4. Dry red chillies: 2-4

5. Asafoetida: 1/2 teaspoon

6. Curry leaves: 1 strand

7. Cumin seeds: 1/2 teaspoon

8. Turmeric Powder: 1/4 teaspoon

9: Mustard seeds: 1/2 teaspoon

10 Salt to taste

11. Water as needed

Soaking the Lentils and Grinding It

1. Soak toor dal and chana dal together in water for 30 mins

2. Filter the water out and add red chillies, asafoetida and salt to the lentils

3. Transfer these to a blender and blend to get a coarse paste

Steam the Lentil Paste and Cut the Beans

1. Steam the lentil paste in a steamer until cooked (An idli cooker was used in this case)

2. Cut the green beans into small pieces

Cook and Lentils and Green Beans Together in a Seasoning (tadka)

1. Add oil to a hot pan

2. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, turmeric powder and curry leaves to the pan

3. Add the cooked lentils to the pan and saute until combined

4. Add the cut green beans to the pan and combine everything together adding salt as required and water to cook the beans

5. Cook until the beans softens and serve with hot rice meal or rotis
