Graham Cracker Crust

GCC.jpg

Graham Cracker Crust is a great alternative to regular pie crusts. It is a simple recipe that can be used for different types of pies and bars, and you can bake it or leave it the way it is and fill it up.

I used this for my Lemon Curd Jell-O Pie (without baking it) and Raspberry Jell-O Pie (baked crust).

I also used this as the base of my S'more Brownie Bars.

Ingredients

This crust can be made and used as is or baked in the oven.

Ingredients:
  • Crushed Graham Crackers (about 1 package of 8 crackers per pie crust)
  • 6 Tbs Melted Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
Optional:
  • Cinnamon
  • Honey (will make the crust darker if baked)

Prepare and Mix

We are going to start with crushing our graham crackers. You can do this by hand, I've done it in the past, but I had this cute little food processor at my disposal so I used that.

Once you have your crackers ground up, you are going to mix that with the melted butter and sugar. Mix well! If it seems too dry, you can throw in some more butter.

Time to line your pan! Whether you are making bars or a pie you can use this method. I wanted to get it pushed down but didn't want to put my hands all over it. So I used a piece of parchment paper and use that to press down the crust.

Now, you can refrigerate until you want to use it, or send it to the oven!

Bake and Fill!

To bake your crust, set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. (let it preheat) Bake it for about 12 minutes. It will start to get a darker brown.

Now just fill it up with whatever you want and enjoy!
