My dad found a gourd shaped like a giraffe at a county store. He knows how much I love giraffes so he bought it for me, because he thought it looked like a giraffe. (It cost less than 50 cents). I decided to make it a full giraffe.
I found out about the Gourds and Pumpkins Speed Challenge and decided to submit an entry.

I used bamboo skewers for the legs. I used the pointed end to poke into the gourd, being careful not to push them in to far.

One of the legs would not fit quite right so I decided to give the giraffe knees as well. Then Air drying clay was used to fashion feet and knees.

Air drying clay was also used to fashion the ears and horns.

The stem of the gourd didn't look quite right on the head, so I cut it off with scissors and gave the giraffe a tail.

I then painted giraffe-like spots on the neck and the markings on the nose and eyes.
