Golden Girls Furniture

Are you ready for some Golden Girls crafts? You’ll need toothpics and glue and some other household items to make these adorable Chippendale Chairs that were featured in the kitchen where they had oh so many cheesecakes. You can make these chairs for either your 8” figures or 12” dolls (both templates included). They are very easy to make with things you probably already have, so no need to go to the craft store. • Toothpicks
• Wood Glue or Craft Glue
• Wax paper(translucent)
• Hand saw or Craft Knife
• Ruler
• Tape
• Sand paper or Emery board
• Foam board
• Paint

Download the template PDF and print the size that works for your dolls. It is available in 1:8.5 scale and 1:12 scale.

Tape the template to a sturdy work surface and tape a sheet of translucent wax paper or parchment paper on top of it to protect it.

Place a toothpick on one of the sides of the chair template and

Cut the toothpick on your marks using a hand saw and sand the edges for a nice finish.

Repeat step 3 for all sides of the chair.

Place a very small dot of wood glue on the parchment paper where two pieces meet. Place the toothpicks on the joint so they stick to the paper.

Make the frame of the chair first and glue it down on the parchment paper.

Start on the interior pieces the same way, placing a toothpick on top of the template and marking where the cuts should be. Most of the interior pieces require angled cuts so mark them accordingly and saw at the angle to give a nice flush joint.

Glue and place all pieces until the entire chair is finished.

Make the sides and turn the chair on its side to glue down glue those to the back of the chair.

Glue on the front of the chair. Add the chair angled supports for an authentic look and for stability.

Clean up the joints to make sure they don’t have excess glue squeeze out.

Paint the chair with acrylic paint. The paint will add a layer of stability to the joints so do a few coats.

To make the cushions, cut a square of foam board and peel off the paper layers on both sides.

Sand the edges to create a rounded profile and sand the top at an angle to make it look fluffy.

Paint the cushion with acrylic paint. 16. Glue the seat cushion to the chair.

The table is just a round piece of foam board with a piece of fabric on it. Scoot the chairs in and get the cheesecake!
