Gold Leather Leaf Bracelet

We had a bunch of leftover leather from when we reupholstered our chairs and I wanted to see if I could make something beautiful with it. I'm obsessed with gold right now, so this also served the purpose of making more things gold.

Cut Mini Football Shapes in Leather

Cut some mini football shapes out of the leather. Mine were about 2" long but it's okay to vary the length a little bit.
Glue and Clamp Leather Football Shapes

Wet your leather so it's a little more malleable. Add a little bit of glue to the centre. Clamp it and let it sit until the glue is dry. I had to let mine sit for a couple of hours.
Cut Glued Metal and Paint Gold

Cut your folded leather so that you get 2 leaves per piece. It's okay if there is a little glue blob because you're going to paint it gold. I'm using a gold leaf paint. Paint each leaf and let it dry.
I made more leaves while my paint was drying.
Make Bracelet Chain

The important thing here is to make sure you measure your chain first. Mine's about 6", once the jump rings and clasps are added my total bracelet length becomes about 7-1/2".
I cut 3 strands of my twine a little longer than I needed, but I'd rather work with a little more than less. I added the clasps to the chain and tied the twine to one of the jump rings.
I then threaded the twine through the chain links and once I was done tied the twine to the jump ring at the other end.
Sew the Leaves to the Chain

Before I started to sew my leaves on I sorted my leaves from tallest to smallest. I wanted the tallest in the centre and I worked my way to the smaller leaves toward the clasps.
I chose to sew my leaves to the chain instead of using a ring to attach it to the chain because it was the least expensive option. I already had thread and needles and I didn't want to go out and buy more jump rings.
The important thing is to attach the leaves to the chain.
Finished!
