Go Kart Flag
A flag may be required to attach to a vehicle such as a go kart to improve vision and help with safety precautions. This flag can be adapted to suit the conditions such as colour and size.
Supplies
- 300X300mm of material, preferably a bright colour, fabric such as cotton is desirable
- One Garden stake
- Sewing machine
- Cotton thread that matches the material
- Sewing pins
- Scissors
Prepare the Material
- Lay out your fabric and cut two matching triangles of your desired size. This may be done by folding the material in half. Make sure that the two "right sides" are together if cutting both at the same time.
- Pin the two pieces of fabric together along the edges to form a triangle shape making sure the two right sides are together.
Sew the Material
- Sew along the edges following the pins and leave a small gap at the end of approximately 2cm where the flag pole will enter, so it should be next to a straight edge
- Reverse stitch at the start and end to make sure it is knotted tightly
- Trim off excess fabric on the edges and corners
- Using the gap in your stitches, turn the flag the right way out
- you may like to use the garden stake to push the corners out so that they are sharp and completely turned
Make Flag Pole Pocket
- Put the garden stake into the gap in the stitches and align it against a straight side of the flag
- Pin along the side of the garden stake with a small clearance
- Take the stake out and sew along where the pins have been placed
- Hand stitch the raw edges around the end of the pocket so that they are neat and tucked into the pocket
- Test whether the flag pole fits snuggly in the pocket, you may sew the pocket to be more narrow if required.
