Gluten-Free Treats: No-Bake Oreo Balls

IMG_4091.jpeg

A few months ago, my brother and sister-in-law told me about these Oreo balls they had eaten at a friend’s house. I have always loved to bake, so I was excited to make this new treat. However, I am gluten-free, so I knew that I could not use regular Oreos. Thankfully, Oreo has come out with gluten-free Oreos that taste like regular Oreos! I found a recipe and replaced the regular Oreos with a bag of gluten-free Oreos. To my delight, I had made delicious gluten-free Oreo balls that have become one of my favorite desserts to make! These gluten-free Oreo balls are super easy to make and everyone around you will love these treats even though they are gluten-free! The original recipe for these Oreo balls comes from Tastes Better from Scratch, but I adapted it to use gluten-free Oreos instead of regular Oreos.

o  Put all of the Oreos into the gallon Ziploc bag & crush them until the Oreos are completely crushed into crumbs without large pieces visible

o  Pour all of the crumbs into the medium-sized mixing bowl

o  Take your softened 8oz block of cream cheese & place it into the mixing bowl with the crushed Oreos

o  Using your spatula, mix the softened cream cheese into the Oreo crumbs until the mixture is fully combined, soft, & creamy

o  Line your small baking sheet or cookie sheet with a piece of wax or parchment paper

o  Now, roll the Oreo/cream cheese mixture into medium-sized balls & place each of them onto the baking sheet (an inch apart)

o  Put the Oreo balls on the baking sheet into the freezer to chill for 15 minutes

Melting the Chocolate

o  Get 1 bowl & pour in the bag of the dark chocolate melting wafers

o  Get 1 bowl & pour in the bag of the white chocolate melting wafers

o  Now, microwave the chocolate one bowl at a time on 30-second intervals until the chocolate is completely melted, stirring after each interval

o  Let the bowls of the melted dark chocolate/white chocolate sit out & cool while the Oreo balls are still chilling in the freezer

Covering the Oreo Balls

o  After 15 minutes, remove the sheet of Oreo balls from the freezer

o  Using the large spoon in each of the melted chocolate bowls, place the Oreo balls one at a time into either the melted dark chocolate or white chocolate

o  Then, place the chocolate-covered Oreo ball back onto the baking sheet lined with wax or parchment paper (an inch apart)

o  Continue doing this until all of the Oreo balls are covered in chocolate

Decorating the Oreo Balls

o  Now, with the remaining melted dark and white chocolate, take the large spoon in each of the melted chocolate bowls & drizzle a decent amount of chocolate onto the tops of the Oreo balls by moving your hand from left to right, left to right, left to right, etc.

  • I usually drizzle the leftover white chocolate on top of the dark chocolate-covered Oreo balls and drizzle the leftover dark chocolate on top of the white chocolate-covered Oreo balls

Finishing the Oreo Balls

o  Let your finished Oreo balls sit out until the chocolate is completely hardened

o  Place Oreo balls into a sealed container & place them into the fridge for up to 2 weeks

o  Enjoy!
