Glowing Marvel Night Light

I was trying to find a way, to make a night light, that was neat, but inexpensive. When I was throwing out a plastic milk jug one day, I decided to save up milk jugs, and use them to build a night light. This project, is simple and easy to make, and can be built for less than ten dollars. So, let's get building!

Supplies

  • small night light
  • tape measure
  • utility knife
  • computer
  • copy machine
  • spray paint color of your choice
  • plastic milk jugs
  • super glue
  • hot glue

Finding the Dimensions of Your Night Light

Using a tape measure, find the height, depth, and width of the night light. Then, draw up a template, making the sides of the box slightly larger than the night light's bulb and switch. (You can use my template if you'd like.)

Cutting the Pieces

Using a utility knife, cut a front, two sides, and a top, out of a plastic milk jug. Thoroughly clean these pieces with hot soapy water, and then set them aside to dry.

Designing the Front

While the pieces you cut out in the last step are drying, copy off a design, transfer it to a milk jug, and cut it out.

Painting

Using a paint color of your choice, spray paint the side panels and the design.

Putting It All Together

Using super glue, adhere the design to the front panel. Then attach the side panels and top with hot glue. Last attach your box to the night light, using hot glue.
