Glowing Enterprise Poster
My daughter got a string of remote controlled LED lights from a friend for her birthday, and it took us a while to figure out what to make with it.
We ended up making a remote controlled glowing Star Trek Enterprise poster using an old corkboard.
Ingredients:
- String of LEDs
- Star Trek Enterprise poster
- Corkboard
- Staples
- Painter's tape
If you don't have a corkboard, a piece of plywood might do, but there is a danger that the force needed to drive staples into it will damage the LED cord. Alternately, perhaps thick cardboard will do?
Cut Down Corkboard
I cut the corkboard to the poster size. The corkboard had aluminum siding, which had to be resized.
Tape Up and Staple
AFfix the poster to the corkboard.
Use painter's tape to tape up one loop of the cord around the Enterprise, and then staple it down. Be careful not to staple through the cable, or to damage the lights or cable. Then repeat with further loops until the LED cable has been used up, moving the tape up over new loops, and replacing tape if it is no longer sticky. Ideally, overlap the LEDs on successive loops. There were two ways of going around the nacelle area, and on successive loops we went around in different different directions.
