Glitter Text Tutorial in Photoshop

Being an intermediate graphic designer and multimedia generalist, glitter text font is common with design request. In this instructable, I will show the steps to achieve glitter text font as a graphic.

Supplies

Computer and mouse

Adobe Photoshop software

Open Adobe Photoshop

Open Adobe Photoshop

Create New Project

Click "Create New"

Check Your Project Dimensions Set Up. After Select Create

All settings should read:

Dimensions > 1920 x 1080 pixels

72 resolution

Color Mode: RGB color

After changed, select "Create"

Type Out Word Needed in Glitter Font

Select the letter “T” on your keyboard and type the word of your choice in black.

Here the font "Landasans_dem01" is being used.

Adjust Font

Adjust font to 400pt. (or as desired) under Character Tab.

Create New Layer

Select layer > New > Layer > Select Ok.

Add Clouds Effect

Select Filter > Render > Clouds

Add Noise Effect

Filter > Noise > Add Noise

Set Gaussian Effect

Once noise is selected, adjust the “Gaussian” effect at 400%.

Afterward select, OK

Add Crystallize Effect

Select Filter > Pixelate > Crystallize

Once prompted, adjust at 3% > Select "Ok"

Adjust Your Hue and Saturation for Color of Glitter

Select Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation

Check Colorize > Change Hue +40 > Saturation +60 > Lightness +45

Create Clipping Mask to Reveal Glitter Font

Lastly, Right click on Layer 1 in layer panel and select "Create clipping mask"

Finished!

OPTIONAL: Exporting File As .PNG for Later Use

If you are needing to export the graphic you created for later use, you can do this by:

  • Hiding the white background for transparency by clicking the eyeball next to "Background".
  • Once hiding, follow the path for exporting:

File> Export > Export Quick as PNG

Save File to Desired Location

Once promoted, name file to choice and location where you would like it saved.

Open File to See Final Product

Once saved, you can open your .PNG file and view your (transparent) graphic.

This can be imported to any graphic editor for use.
