Gingerbread House <3

Gingerbread, gingerbread, gingerbread rock, lalalalal laa laa laaaaa. It's a gingerbread house!

I always wanted to build my own house. . . . This is my first attempt from last Christmas ^_^.

I hope it will be of help to create your dream house too <3

I used 2 times the recipe for the dough and royal icing because my design ended up a bit bigger than planed ^_^

Make a Design for a Dreamy House

Dough


Step 1:

Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature. Mix the butter, sugar and syrup in the mixer until creamy. Add the eggs one by one. Do not add the next egg until the other is well incorporated.


Step 2:

Mix the flour, gingerbread spices and salt. Stir the flour mixture into the sugar-egg mixture. Knead the whole into a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it set in the fridge for a day.


Step 3:

Preheat the oven to 190ÂșC. Cut cardboard templates for the walls, a base and a roof for the house.


Fun-dation

Step 1:

Roll out the dough on a floured surface. Using the molds, cut the walls of the house out of the dough. Place the dough slices on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Prick the dough with a fork to prevent shrinkage and uneven baking. You can make decorations from the remaining dough


Step 2:

Bake the dough in the oven for about 12-15 minutes until golden brown and done. Let cool completely.

1 Make stars with lots of dots from big to small.

2 Pile them up and glue them with the royal icing that we will make later in the tutorial.

Pet Your Cat

A little brake while the gingerbread is in the oven or cooling down after baking. You can use it to pet your cat ! If you don't have one you can also pet a loved one ^_^

Construction

Caramel

Melt the sugar in parts until it starts to caramelize and pour on baking paper. Dip the cooled, cut-out biscuits in the caramel and stick the house together.

Let It Snow

Royal icing

Mix the egg whites with the icing sugar. Fold a cornet of baking paper or grab a piping bag and fill with the icing.

Let's Decorate ^_^

Decoration

Use the egg white icing to join the seams of the house and pipe decorations on the house. Finally, dust with icing sugar and decorate with chocolate muskets.
