Ginger for Cold & Flu

Ginger is considered a warming and spicy flavored herb. The warming nature of ginger is reflected in the fact that ginger can be used against various illnesses caused by cold. Ginger is also used in cases of food poisoning and nausea, poor digestion, diarrhea, lack of appetite, hand and feet feel cold. You can have a fresh small piece of ginger, if you have any above mentioned illness. Some people (like me) doesn't like the raw taste of ginger. So, here is the solution.

This is the simplest and best medicine for sore throat, nausea, cold, good digestion, giddiness, sinus problem, especially good for 1st trimester morning sickness. These are very simple to make. I hope this post will help you all to get rid of those illness. Thanks.

Candied gingers are tastes amazing and it is the best to cure nausea, travelling sickness, cold and sore throat.

Ingredients

Ginger (you 'll need 1 cup sliced ginger)

1/2 cup of Sugar

Water

Method

Peel ginger and slice it into 1/8 inch thickness.

Place a quart of pan with some water and add the sliced ginger into it

Bring it to boil and cook until it turns to crisp and tender

Transfer the ginger to colander to drain and reserve 1/4 cup of water

Return the ginger and water to the pan. Add sugar in it and give a stir.

set the flame over medium high heat. bring it to boil.

now reduce the flame to medium and cook, stirring frequently until the sugar syrup looks dry and begins to recrystallize. It 'll take almost 15 to 20 minutes.

Transfer the glossy ginger immediately to the cooling rack and spread to separate the individual pieces.

once it completely cool, store it in air tight container up to 2 weeks.

Ginger tea is a flavorful tea, made with crushed ginger or candied ginger. I make it everyday for my family. It's good to have when cold or fever.

Ingredients

3 candied ginger or fresh ginger, crushed
2 cups of water
2 cups of 2% milk
2 tsp of Tea powder
sugar/honey to taste

Method


place a 2 quart pan with tea powder, ginger and milk over medium high heat.

Bring it to boil. Now add milk and bring it to boil again.

Remove the pan from heat. Filter the tea using fine siever.

Add honey or sugar according your preference.

Ginger Drink | Inji Kashayam

Ginger drink or Inji kashayam [in tamil] is a healthy drink, which helps to boost immune system. It is best to have for cold and stomach flu or digestion problem.

Ingredients

1 tbsp of dry ginger powder
1 tbsp of cumin seed
1 tsp of honey
2 cups of water

Method

place a one quart pan with water, cumin and ginger powder over medium high heat.

Bring it to boil and then reduce to medium heat.

cook until it reduce to half of the amount.

Remove it from heat. Filter the mixture in fine siever.

once it becomes warm, add honey, mix and drink.
