Ginger Cookies
These thin, soft and chewy ginger cookies are sure to please a crowd at the holidays. The fragrant dough is made with molasses and ground ginger and crackles when baked. Perfect for a cookie exchange, they taste great with a glass of cold milk.
Ginger Cookies
Ingredients
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground clove
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 T white sugar, for dusting
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
1. Cream the butter and the sugar. Add the molasses and the egg. Add the water.
2. Add the dry ingredients and beat until well mixed.
3. Roll the dough into one inch balls and coat with the extra sugar. Place an inch apart onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
4. Bake for 11 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees F.
