Gifts, Gifts, Gifts!
There are many people in my life to whom I want to show my gratitude and fondness. Recently, I've been giving them what is our fast culture's most precious commodity: the time and love that goes into knitting and crocheting. Every day I look forward to the time that I spend thinking about the people who will receive what I am making:
First is a "Cowboy Bebop" (anime series) themed belt for a 20 year old friend. I crocheted the belt using Lion Suede yarn, size I crochet hook, and a Cowgirl Belt pattern. The recipient said she has hung the belt in her college dorm room, alongside her wall posters.
I knitted the Challah Cover (with a crocheted edging) for a 12-year-old family friend's Bat Mitzvah gift, adapting an Internet pattern and using mercerized white and blue cotton, size 3 knitting needles, and a size F crochet hook. For the next time when I use more than one color in a knitting pattern, I'll be able to control the tension more easily.
The bell thread crochet doily and snowflake coasters were for old and dear friends.The coasters are adapted from Linda's Snowflake Potholder pattern, using sparkly, festive yarn. The doily used #30 crochet thread and a #7 crochet hook. The coasters uses worsted weight white yarn, doubled sport weight red yarn, and a size G crochet hook.
Four more snowflake coasters, this time made with Lion Microspun and an F crochet hook. I like these so much that I think I'll make a snowflake afghan next year.
I adapted this Christmas Doily pattern, using #30 crochet thread and #7 crochet hook, for a Secret Santa gift.
The thread crochet table runner for my brother and sister-in-law used #10 crochet cotton, #5 crochet hook, and patterns from the book Filet Crochet (by Betty Barnden).
I can hardly wait to finish the dozen or so other gifts I have started!
