I do wiring around the house every so often and have scrap pieces of NM electrical wire left over; some two feet, some five. I can't find many electrical uses for the scraps, but recently have found they are very very useful as ties on my sail boat trailer for securing lines, tying up plants in the garden, hanging things in the garage, etc. They can be used alone or with scrap garden hose to make large twist ties.
Supplies:
Old scrap garden hose
Scrap NM household wire

Tools:
Something to cut wire and hose

Disclaimer: This is not for holding lots of weight, just to tie up loose things.

Fold the Wire

Fold the wire in half so it fits nice a snug in the next step.

Insert Folded Wire Into Old Garden Hose

Clip a piece of old garden hose to the length of the folded wire and feed the wire into the hose. Friction holds it in place inside the hose.
That's it!

Very easy and useful.
