Giant Thumbtack
Hello!
Here is my new project, a giant thumbtack. The crafting process will be the same for items you want to enlarge. There are three main steps:
1-the construction of general forms
2-painting, coloring
3-adding details (relief, design, pattern, texture)
Of course, the steps are not necessarily in this order.
Supplies
You will therefore need:
-cardboard
-paper
-a balsa stick at least a few centimeters wide
- adhesive in the color of your choice
- silver or gold paint
- painter's tape
- diluted white glue
- hot glue
-a cutter or scissors
-paint brushes
-a pencil
- sandpaper if needed
-a compass or something round
Thumbtack Shape Making
in a cardboard draw then cut out a circle. you can adapt the size according to your desires. Then repeat the operation 3 times and glue the different parts together with hot glue. then round the edges to give the rounded shape of the thumbtack.
Application of Adhesive and Paint
before painting and applying the adhesive, glue a sheet of paper with a brush and diluted white glue to make the surface of the cardboard smoother. leave to dry then paint on one side with silver or gold paint. once dry, place the part on a large sheet of adhesive in the shape of a circle about 10 centimeters longer than the part, then fold the edges of the adhesive on the part and press the adhesive well.
Manufacture of the Balsa Tip
for the point, take a stick of balsa a few centimeters then cut it into a point with a cutter, sand it with sandpaper then paint it with gold or silver paint. Let it dry.
Assemble the Parts
glue the different parts with hot glue.
