Wear old clothes or an apron before beginning. Blow up the balloons, placing each one in a bowl. To make the paste, mix 1 1/4 cup of flour to 1 cup of water. Mix until a smooth paste You may have to change the amount of flour and water in the bowl. Put this aside.

Newspaper

Using your hand or scissors, cut the newspaper into strips (the strips don have to be equal sized,in fact they're better that way). Set the strips aside.

Pasteing

Dip the strips into the paste and let any excess drip off. Then paste the strip onto the balloon, making sure of no air bubbles under the strips.Make sure to leave space around the tie of the balloon. Repeat the process and cover the whole balloon. Then move on to the next balloon. Let dry-this take up to a couple of hours.

Optional

This step is optional: To make blueberry calyx, use the same flour mixture and newspaper over the end of a plastic bowl and than attach to end of the balloon when it is dry.

Painting and Poping

Next, Paint the paper any color you want( note, if you made the blueberry calyx, attach that with glue or the flour water mix) and let that dry. When the paint is dry, pop the balloon and gently pull out the balloon from the paper.

Done!

And you are done! More: Try painting the balloons other colors and make different fruits!
