Giant Double Barrel Plasma Cannon
It has been a while since I planned to make a giant Plasma Gun. So finally I did make one. But if you know me you already know I won't settle for something as big as the others, that's why I made it double barrel.
Check out the tutorial and I highly recommend watching the video for a real treat.
Materials
The materials you will need for this project are:
- Four water containers
- A piece of long wood
- 1-inch diameter clear tubes
- 2-inch diameter tube
- Piezos or electric-powered igniters
- A pair of torches
The Barrels
To make each of these huge barrels you will need to connect 2 water containers with a piece of 2-inch tube together. But before that, for each barrel you should open up one container's bottom with a large diameter hole saw, I used the 5-inch hole saw for this purpose, and it turned out fine.
Frame
I start drilling with my 30mm spade bit with my cordless drill and after drilling a few holes it was obvious that I need more power, a lot more! So I switched to my drill press and before I know it, it was all done.
After that, I cut a piece of wood from the long wood and attached it to the first part to make the main handle. I did attach a couple of more handles and support so handling wouldn't be an issue for this giant gun. In the end, I painted the frame blue to go with water containers.
Ignition
I've mentioned piezos which you can find in a lot of lighters (but not all of them) which are fine and will do the job. but for testing and fine-tuning and firing up like 10 times per minute they are such a pain. So, I went for the electric-powered igniters which are super fast and have a more powerful spark. So it is really your call, you can go either way.
Assembly
As you see in the pictures at first I went for a very long length of tubing which turns out it won't work so I've shortened the tube length to make things work properly. With some tweak and adjustment, I managed to make the fire climb as long as 15 feet in 1-inch clear tube. Plus I used a pair of cheap and ordinary hand torches, not the very expensive and big ones that most people have used, and still, I've managed to get some respectable results.
Let's Fire Up
Firing up this canon was fun, I've waited for the dawn so flames have better visibility in the camera so the shots are a little noisy but it's worth it.
Word of Caution:
Now, this project is not your average DIY project, you are playing with Flammable gases and ignition here, so if you happen to try it be extra careful and have a fire distinguisher on your side. obviously, every if you are planning to fill it up with gases and fire up it MUST BE AN OUTDOOR environment. Wear ear and eye protection because this thing can be super loud sometimes. And please note, do this at your own risk, I won't be responsible for any accident or damage caused by doing this instructable tutorial.
