To begin, I used a black sheet as the base for my pin mandala art. I wanted to create a precise design, so I started by drawing a layout using a compass and protractor.

Drawing Concentric Circles:

  1. Place the compass point on the center of the sheet and draw a circle using the pencil.
  2. Adjust the compass to different radii and draw multiple concentric circles around the first one.
  3. These circles would serve as a guide for placing the pins and creating the mandala pattern.

Drawing Straight Lines:

  1. Next, use a protractor to draw straight lines on the sheet, intersecting the concentric circles.
  2. Carefully measure and mark the angles using the protractor, ensuring that the lines are evenly spaced and symmetrical.
  3. These lines would help placing the pins in a geometric pattern.

Preparing the Stapler Pins

For this mandala art, I wanted to experiment with different shapes and forms using stapler pins. Here's what I did:

  1. Single Pins: I left some stapler pins as they were, single and straight, to use as individual points in the design.
  2. Rectangular Shapes: I created rectangular shapes by folding, forming a small rectangular form.
  3. Stapled Pins without Paper: I stapled pins without any paper to create a more textured and raised effect. This gave the pins a unique, rugged look.
  4. Heart-Shaped Pins: I took some stapled pins and folded them into heart shapes, adding a touch of whimsy to the design.

By preparing the stapler pins in different shapes and forms, I was able to experiment and get creative with the materials!

Arranging Pins on the Grid

With my prepared pins and grid layout in place, I started arranging the pins on the design.

I experimented with different patterns and arrangements, using the single pins, rectangular shapes, stapled pins, and heart-shaped pins to create a visually appealing design. I played around with different densities and spacing to achieve the desired effect.

As I worked, I made adjustments to the design, to see how it was coming together. The grid helped me maintain symmetry and precision, and I was able to achieve a beautiful, intricate pattern.

Glue and Secure the Design

I secured the pins in place with glue, making sure they wouldn't shift or fall out. Once the glue was dry, I carefully placed the artwork in a frame to protect it and enhance its display. The frame added a finishing touch to my pin mandala art piece, and I was thrilled to see it come together. With the pins safely secured and the frame in place, my artwork was now ready to be showcased.
