Gel Polish

In this Instructable, I will show you how to use gel polish at home. This is an easy tutorial using gel polish safely and properly.

Gel polish was invented in early 1980 and has been on the rise in all salons lately. Gel polish has many good qualities like the fact that it lasts longer than regular nail polish does, it gives off a more glossy finish, and it also won't chip!

Gel nails are such a fun way to add a little pop of color into your life.

Follow the steps below and enjoy the new nails!

What you will need:

  1. Nail polish gel
  2. Base coat
  3. Top coat
  4. UV light

Apply a Base Coat to Clean Washed Hands

IMG_0617.jpeg

Before you do this step make sure that your station or work area is completely sanitized; health is extremely important. Wash your hands after doing this and get ready to apply the base coat to the nail. The base coat allows the color to stick to something without staining your natural nails. Make sure you have covered the entire nail with the base and its evenly applied.

Gel polish requires a UV light in order for it to dry properly. To do this, plug in your UV light and set the timer for sixty seconds. If it does not have a timer you can set one on your phone.

Apply a Color Coat

Now for the fun part, applying the color you chose! in this Instructable, I will be using black; however, you may use whatever color you choose. Apply this evenly across the nail just like you did for the base coat.

Stick the nails under the UV light and allow them to cure for a minute.

Apply a Second Layer of Color

IMG_0621.jpeg

The reason you apply two coats of gel is so that the color really pops out and sticks. You can apply a third if you think it's needed; however, in this Instructable since we are working with black polish, it sticks out enough on its own with just two coats. Apply this layer just like the first few, make sure its even and coats the entire nail.

Cure the Nails for a Minute

Just like before, stick your nails under the light and allow them to cure for a minute.

Apply a Top Coat

A top coats' purpose is to lock in the design you have made under it, preventing any chips or scratches! This is applied just like all the other coats before.
