Garage Workbench
Basically, my garage needed a work bench that I could work on and store some tools of mine instead of using a shelf. As I have said in my other instructables, I am by no means a carpenter or expert. There are lots of different ways to build this. These are the steps that I took to build mine. What you see pictured is the before and after
Supplies
- 2x4s
- Plywood
- Nails
- Hammer
- Screws
- Drill
- Miter Saw
- Table Saw
- Level
Building Frame
- I had previously remove a shelf in the garage that was large and not needed, however I left the 2x4s attached to the wall just in case. I used these as main supports for my work bench and built around this.
- Using the 2x4s I measured the length that I would need and cut accordingly.
- Screwed in 3 screws to each joint while ensuring that it was levelled.
- I continue this approach and added additional supports and created the frame
- For some of the joints, I used a hammer and nails to get the joints attached to the back support
Adding Top
- For this step I used a sheet of plywood, and laid it across the top and made markings on how big I would need to cut it.
- Due to the size of the plywood sheet that I was using and the size of the bench, I had to make 2 cuts to fit it properly
- Used screws to hold it down to the beams
- After making the frame and adding the plywood sheets, I realized that I would need to add a middle leg to help strengthen in
Add Upper Hanging Shelf
- Once I added the additional support, It was time to add another 2x4 overhead. This would allow me to add/hang various tools from (screw drivers, hammer, drill, etc
