Im a Funko pop collector and i've started to run out of space for my collection. I decided that I wanted to create shelving to have more storage space for my pops. Then I decided that I wanted it to be game of thrones themed and I would display my GOT pops on the shelves. I also made it so it would function as a desk.

Supplies

I used

Broken down shelving, scrap wood, black paint, vinyl for the stickers, and polyurethane

Starting Out

So I started with these broken down shelving that was in pretty rough shape. some of the shelves werebroken but thats okay because I only need half of them.

Taking the Shelves Apart

so I took the shelves apart so I could salvage the good ones and clean all of them off so the paint would go down nicely. I just used a damp sponge to get any dirt or dust off.

Putting the Shelves Back in

Then after cleaning them I took the amount of shelves I needed and put them in every other slot so they could fit the figures I wanted them too. then I raised the shelves so I can paint them without getting paint on the floor.

The Top

Then I got some scrap wood and cut it to the size I needed to fit the shelves. I used a table saw to cut it.

Cutting to the Right Length

Then I cut the wood to be the right length to fit the shelves.

Trim

Then I put it on top so I could then measure the correct length and width for the trim to hold it down.

More Scrap Wood

Then I got thin scrap wood to use for the trim.

Perfect Fit

Then I used a nail gun to attach the trim to the top. the top itself is not nailed to the shelves but its measured so it fits so snug it doesn't move, but its able to be taking off for travel purposes.

Sanding

After putting the top together I sanded it till it was smooth so there will be no bumps in the sticker.

Painting

Now I put the shelves back on the buckets so I could paint them black.

After Painting

Now after painting I put the top back on in order to get it ready for the vinyl sticker.

Taping

I put painters tape done to help me center the sticker when it comes time to apply it.

The Sticker

the sticker is the map of westros the fictional land from GOT. I used scraped vinyl sticker to make the map in a vinyl cutter.

Preparing the Sticker

now to remove the sticker I used transfer tape to get the vinyl sticker of the paper and ready to be applied to the desk.

Dusting for the Sticker

now I just made sure to get all the dust off the top so the sticker will stick with no issues. for this I just used a cloth.

Applying the Main Sticker

Then I applied the sticker by putting it on the surface and making sure it was secure down by going back and forth over it with a credit card.

House Stickers

Then I used scrapped black vinyl to make the houses of the families in the show and put them where their homes are on the map.

Poly

Then I went over the entire top of the desk with polyurethane to secure the sticker and also to give the wood a nice finished look. this took about 4 coats of poly to cover the stickers fully.

Setting It Up!

Then I took it home and set my Game Of Thrones pops and other collectibles on it. it makes an awesome display for my GOT collectibles and an awesome centerpiece for my room.
