G3 Helmet Earmuffs

This is a tutorial on how to put the Soft Seal Hush Kit earmuffs into your Cookie G3 Helmet. If you're a indoor skydiver and you like your hearing I highly recommend putting these into your helmet as they (plus earplugs) will save you a lot of hearing loss. Disclaimer: After you cut your G3 lining out you will not be able to put it back together and I have yet to find a replacement lining online or elsewhere. So be 100% sure you want to do this. The earmuffs have velcro in the back. Stick an earmuff into the helmet and then try it on until it feels like it is covering your ear comfortably. Once it feels right mark where it was so you know where to cut.

Unattach the lining from inside the helmet. Cut about a half inch from where you marked it all the way down. Be mindful of where the tightening strap is, DO NOT CUT THE STRAP (I've pointed to it on the second picture). When you reach the strap cut parallel to it all the way to the visor side of the helmet. Be careful ripping out the inside of the lining so you don't rip anything from outside the lines you drew.

Sew the lining up nice and pretty. You can also rip out the lining from next to the tightening strap but you don't have to. Attach a few fuzzy velcro pieces to the plastic so you can stick the earmuff to it. You might also want to sew/glue velcro to the fabric around the strap so it is more secure when flying Then try the helmet on with both earmuffs in it. It might take you a few tries to get the fit just right.

Super hard. For me the first few times in the tunnel I got a headache from the earmuffs being incorrectly positioned and still being a bit stiff. My buddy (whose helmet is in the pictures) didn't have any trouble with that. He wears an extra large and I wear a large, so that might have something to do with it.
