Today I give you a new fun way to enhance your guitar playing experience by helping you construct your very own guitar pedal. This was a product of passion and labor from me and it only seemed right to share this with the rest of the world. In this specific circuit we will be diving into the dark and dirty tones of fuzz pedal. Most known for its influences in harder genres such as grunge and metal the fuzz pedal has helped many guitarists explore their darker side sonically with hard clipping diodes that brickwall your sounds in a very aggressive tone. So if your distortion pedal just isn't doing it for you anymore read along and see how to improve your tone all by yourself.

Schematics

First and foremost here are the schematics for our fuzz pedal. This is a visual representation of what's going on in the layout of our fuzz circuit that is quite helpful if you know how to interpret an electrical diagram as such. If not, do not worry we will go step by step to complete this circuit.

Constructing the Circuit

  1. Set up breadboard to the battery connector, red tyo positive, and black to negative. (make sure not to plug in the battery at this time).
  2. Add the 2N3904 transistor base to rail 10 of the board while connecting the collector to rail 8 and the emitter to rail 12
  3. Add the 2N2222 transistor base to rail 9, collector to rail 8 and emitter to rail 10
  4. Connect a diode across rail 8 & 9 with negative on 9
  5. Add one leg of ceramic 0.1 uf capacitor to rail 8 and the other end to rail 6
  6. Add one leg of the 10k resistor to rail 8 and the other leg to the +9V rail
  7. Take the short leg of the electrolytic 2.2uf capacitor and connect that to rail 9 and connect the long leg to rail 14
  8. Connect rail 12 to ground with a wire
  9. Connect the input jack to rail 14 and ground respectively
  10. Connect the output jack to rail 6 and ground respectively
  11. Connect the 9V battery

Plug and Play

Once everything is attached in proper order you can enjoy your life with a whole new rugged swagger thanks to this here little fuzz pedal. Enjoy!
