I wanted a quick, simple yet funny way to paint this year's easter eggs. So I came up with this "lounger chair stencil method." 😄 🏖️

Supplies

There are more ways to paint the eggs, however you'll always need the stencils and the beach chair so the easter eggs can lay and relax during the process!

For the stencils and the chair:

Other:

  • Eggs
  • Blow pens or spray paint
  • Degreaser/kitchen soap
  • Hot water
  • Tweezers

3D Print the Beach Chair and the Stencils

The stencils you see in the pictures (including the sunglasses!) are part of the downloaded files but you can also make your own.

All parts are placed on the print bed as we would print them to save you time.

At 100% scale the models will fit on a 100 mm 3D printer and are made to fit medium-sized chicken eggs but will fit most eggs.

We use these settings for most of our prints:

  • Layer height 0.2 mm
  • Infill 15%

Prepare the Eggs

Firstly I recomment degreasing the eggs using a simple kitchen soap so that the paint sticks to them better.

Secondly, give them a nice relaxing spa day, lay them on the beach chair that you've 3D printed.

Place the Stencils on the Easter Eggs

There are 3 ways of placing the 3D printed stencils on the easter eggs.

1) Use hot water to soften the 3D printed stencil and place it quickly on the egg. It wil cool down in few seconds, sticking to the egg nicely.

2) Place the stencil into the stencil holder, that is included in the files you've downloaded.

3) Just give them the sunglasses. ( Also among the stl files) 😎

Paint Them!

Whether you prefer spray paints or the blow pens, give them a minute to dry and remeove the stencil (it is reusable.)

In conclusion, I would say it's pretty easy and funny way to paint the easter eggs. I can imagine other kids will enjoy it as well!
