As a teen I am guilty of sitting on my phone for hours and not socializing with my family. As a child I had family game nights every Friday and slowly they disappeared. Most wooden toys that are made are just cars and doll houses. Well Have you ever played Jenga before? Well this is basically Jenga but with a twist. I took the idea of Jenga and asked myself how I could make it better. So, I thought of my favorite thing to do that involves me not having my phone and that’s working out.

Let me introduce you to the Tower of Fitness. In this game with every block you take there is a fitness challenge. From push ups to burpees. And the same rules of Jenga apply. Each block was hand cut with a length of 7.5 cm, width of 2.5 cm and height of 1.5. Therefore, my game; tower of fitness will bring families together and off their phones. Creating long lasting memories and keeping people in shape.

Now, how to play:

  1. On your turn carefully remove a block from anywhere, besides from the top.
  2. Use only one hand!
  3. Then stack the block on top of the tower.
  4. Once you have stacked the block back on top you have to read then complete the challenge/workout.
  5. The person who wins has to the give a challenge to all the other players for them to accomplish.

Supplies

What you need:

In this project I made a prototype before starting to draw out and cut the wood. Using cardboard I made my prototype, using the measurements to create the block.

Measurements:

- (2x) 7.5 cm by 2.5 cm

- (2x) 7.5 cm by 1.5 cm

- (2x) 2.5 cm by 2.5 cm

Drawing and Cutting

Next in this project I hand drew each block using a ruler and my measurements. After drawing out 54 blocks you then can start cutting using the band saw. After cutting each block out you need to sand it down with the sanding block.

Applying Onto Wood

Then, you will type and print out a list of exercises. Next, you will cut them out into little strips. After that put each strip on the wood and put a layer of mod podge on top. Set aside and let dry for 24 hours.
