Tired of boring old crayons and accidentally breaking them just by holding them? Try making them larger, cooler, and more indestructible! It's also easier for kids to hold!

Supplies

  • Lots of crayons
  • Mini muffin tin
  • Knife

Plan the Color Combinations

First, divide your crayons into groups of three.

I put them in groups like:

  • Red, orange, and yellow
  • Orange, red, and Purple
  • White, gray, and black
  • Green and two shades of blue
  • Yellow and two shades of green
  • Blue, purple, and pink

Peel the Paper Off of the Crayons

Next, peel off the paper from all the crayons. Keep all of the crayons in their groups.

Chop the First Layer of Crayons

Take one crayon from each group and chop them up into small pieces(I chopped up the lightest color in each group).

Place the Chopped Crayons in the Tin

After you're done chopping the first layer of crayons, place them in the muffin tin. Place them so that they are as flat as possible on the bottom of the cups of the muffin tin.

Chop the Second Layer of Crayons

Take a second crayon from each group and chop them up into small pieces(I chopped up the second lightest color in each group).

Place the Chopped Crayons in the Muffin Tin

After you're done chopping the second layer of crayons, place them in the muffin tin on top of the first layer of crayons.

Cut Up the Third Layer of Crayons

Take a third crayon from each group and chop them up into small pieces(I chopped up the darkest color in each group).

Put the Third Layer of Crayons in the Muffin Tin

After you're done chopping the third layer of crayons, place them in the muffin tin on top of the second layer of crayons.

Melt the Crayons

After all of the chopped crayons are placed in the muffin tin, bake them at 300° for about ten minutes(until they are melted).

Take the Tin Out of the Oven

After they are fully melted, take them out of the oven and set them out to dry. Do not touch them until they are completely dried!

After they have dried completely(preferably overnight), flip the tin upside down and gently knock on the underside of the cups.

The Crayons Are Finished!
