Fume Extractor for Soldering

You will need:

One 200mm fan (Make sure your fan works with the power supply before you build anything!!!)

One Power Supply with the same out put rating as your 200mm fan input!

One Rocker Switch

Chunk of 2x4

Charcoal filter or air filter!

Some wire which you can get from power supply's

Soldering Iron

Heat shrink

Paint (any color you like :) )

You will need to cut your 2x4 of course.

Please note that your fan might be a little different in size so please double check that this frame will fit.

2 chunks cut at (H,W,L) 10" x 1 1/4" x 1 1/2"

One piece cut at (H,W,L) 2 1/2" x 5 7/8" x 1 1/2"

2 pieces (H,W,L) 5/8", 5 7/8" , 1 1/2"

and 2 pieces (H, W, L) 5/8", 4 5/8", 1 1/2"

Next Attach your base wood ( the 2 10" x 1 1/4" x 1 1/2" and one 2 1/2" x 5 7/8" x 1 1/2" ) together with screws make sure to cut the holes for your cable, switch and your cable to the fan. More info in the schematic picture.

To build the frame for your 200mm fan glue three of the 5/8" thick pieces together then add two little pieces off wood at the bottom of the frame to keep the fan in the middle. After the glue is dry slide the fan in to place and screw the last 5/8" piece of wood on top. So you can pull it apart if you have to!

Put your fan frame in middle of the stand and install it 1" from the top .

Next Put two screws on both sides of your unit at the same height threw the 10" pieces and into your fan frame about 2 1/4" from the top should do. Sorry that the schematic does not show this but this should be simple enough.

Make a frame out of wire or elastic bands at the back of your fan as you see in the picture and screw that in. Note you might need to drill out one or two holes because of the small pieces of wood we added earlier might get in the way.

Make sure that everything fits and runs fan, switch, power supply etc, and then pull it apart.

Paint it any color you like let it dry and resemble it.

Now you are done and it should look like this hope you enjoyed this DIY let me know if there should be anything else that should be made!
