Fully 3D Printable Display Shelf

I want to have display shelf, but off the shelves glass cabinets are typically too cramped for my liking.

So I decided to try designing display shelfs using 3D printed parts and acrylic plates instead

Technically speaking, glass is possible, but in DIY context, drilling into glass would be very complicated so I end up going mostly with acrylic or PC

Supplies

As stated with the title, you will need:

  1. 3D printer
  2. 3D printer filament, PLA is fine
  3. Acrylic plates
  4. 1 stiff foam sheet (if you decide to replace 1 of the acrylic plate with white foam sheet)
  5. lots of M3 screws and nuts of varying sizes

Print and Assemble the Pillars

We need 2 set of ORI and MIR pillars for 1 level of display shelf

"ori" types can be assembled with 3 parts: pillarB-ori, pillarT-ori, and pillarM-ori

"mir" types can be assembled with 3 parts: pillarB-mir, pillarT-mir, and pillarM-mir

Use M3 screws and nuts to bolt the parts together

Print and Assemble the Shelf

We need the front part and the back part

front segment can be assembled with 3 parts: shelfF-ori, shelfF-mir, and shelfM-ori

back segment can be assembled with 3 parts: shelfB-ori, shelfB-mir, and shelfM-mir

Use M3 screws and nuts to bolt the parts together

Print and Assemble Shelf Door

We need 5 parts for the bottom gate including the hinge, and 3 parts for the top gate

There should be exactly 5 parts with "horiDoorBtm" in the name for the bottom part

and exactly 3 parts with "horiDoorTop" for the top counterpart

Use M3 screws and nuts to bolt the parts together

Cut and Drill Holes Onto Acrylic Plates/stiff Foam Plates

We need total of:

2 x Vertical Wide (1 of which can be substituted for foam instead of acrylic (easier to slice))

1 x Vertical Narrow

1 x Door (door is designed for 1mm acrylic plate)

1 x Horizontal (bolt to the shelf)

for each level

Extra - 1 More Level That Split 1 Shelf Into 2

We need 3 parts for each side of the 2nd level:

1x2ndlevelPillar-ori, 1x2ndlevelPillar-mir, 1x2ndlevelBridge

and then build 2 of these

Use M3 screws and nuts to bolt the parts together

This part is completely optional
