Fruit Tartlet
Fruit tartlets are a small and delicious treat that nobody can resist!
The delicious mix of butter, vanilla and fruit makes them the perfect sweet and the perfect size for any occasion. I particularly love preparing them for tea party or for a special breakfast with friends and I always get compliments.
People will not believe it is homemade, so be ready to prepare several because they will not last!
Ingredients
- 150-200 grams Puffy pastry
- Fresh fruit such as grapes and berries
- 1 pack of Vanilla custard powder**
- 1 sheet of wax paper
- cupcake mold
**Milk , water and sugar to prepare custard according to manufacturers instructions
Roll the Pastry
Use a rolling pin to extend the pastry. Remember to use a bunch of flour in the table you are working so you can handle the pastry easily.
Cut Squares
Cut squares of puff pastry of around 15cm x 15cm
Place Pastry Squares in Mold
Add oil in the cupcake molds and add puff pastry squares.
Add Wax Paper and Another Cupcake Mold
Add wax paper on top of each square of puff pastry. Once you cover all squares you will add another mold of cupcakes. This will create the needed weight to avoid the pastry to get puffy.
Bake for 20 Minutes at 220 °C
Bake pastry for 15 minutes, the remove the upper mold and wax paper and bake for another 5 minutes.
Prepare Vanilla Custard
Follow the instructions shown in the package.
The brand I bought required that the package of custard should be previously hydrated in 1/2 cup of water and then add it to 500 ml of boiling milk. To avoid custard to get thicken you should stir constantly until it thickens.
Fill Tartlets
Fill tartlets with vanilla custard (at room temperature, NOT hot) and add fruit on top.
Refrigerate
Refrigerate for around 20 minutes
Serve and Enjoy
Serve tartlets as dessert or as a sweet treat for your guests. They will simply LOVE them!
