Fruit custard is one of those desserts that I have grown up eating so many times. This is a popular desert in India. My mom would make the best fruit custards. This custard is so creamy and yummy that you would make this again and again. Making custard is one of the easiest thing. All you need is some ingredients. Within 20-30 minutes your custard sauce will be ready. Easiest desert to make. The best way to eat custard is chilled with lot of crunchy and soft fruits and a bit of almond and cashews. Today, in this instructable I'm sharing my mom's recipe today. Do try making this

Let's start making it.

Supplies

Ingredients:

  1. Milk.
  2. Fresh cream
  3. Sugar
  4. Vanilla custard Powder
  5. Fruits of your choice (Apple, Mango, Pomegranate, Grapes, Banana, etc. )

  • In a big bowl take 2 cups (500 ml) of room temperature milk.
  • To the milk, Add 2-3 tablespoon of fresh cream.
  • Mix well. (Don't add cream to hot milk, because the cream won't mix well with the milk.)
  • Add 1/3 cup (100 grams) sugar and mix again.
  • Keep this aside.

Boil

  • Turn on the flame and keep a vessel over it.
  • To that add our milk, cream, sugar mixture.
  • Keep stirring so that it doesn't stick at the bottom.
  • Let the milk boil.
  • This will take around 5-10 minutes.
  • Let it boil at medium low flame.

Custard Powder Slurry

  • In 1/2 cup (125 ml) of milk add 2-3 tablespoon of vanilla custard powder.
  • Mix it well till all the lumps dissolve.
  • Gradually add this slurry to the boiling milk and simultaneously stir it so that no lumps are formed.
  • Keep stirring.
  • You can see the color changing to slightly yellow.
  • Let the milk thicken.
  • Keep the stove on low medium flame and let the milk thicken.
  • This will take around 5-8 minutes.
  • To check the consistency, move a finger on the spatula. It should remain dry and clean. If it doesn't boil it for a few more minutes.
  • Once it is ready, turn the flame off and let it cool down completely.

Cut Fruits

  • Take all fruits you like and cut into small cubes.
  • You can choose any fruit you like.
  • For custard, a mix of soft and crunchy fruits goes best.
  • Keep all this fruits sliced/ chopped and ready and wait for the custard to cook down completely.
  • These fruits go best with custard: Apple, Mango, Pomegranate, Banana, Grapes, Strawberries, Blueberries, Oranges.

Add Fruits to the Custard

  • Our custard is now cooled down after 20-30 minutes.
  • Add our chopped fruits to the custard and give a mix.
  • Cover and keep it the fridge for at least 4-5 hours ( best results Overnight).

Our Fruit Custard is absolutely ready.

Garnish with almond flakes and cashew flakes. This gives a nice crunch to the custard. Serve it chilled. Making this requires less than 30 minutes. Best when you wanna eat something sweet and healthy.
