Frozen Fried-Onion Cubes Encased in Liner

This is a guide for anyone who likes the idea of making uniform frozen fried onion cubes which can easily be removed from a disposable plastic. You can then toss it into soups, or mix into hot mashed potatoes, etc.

Step 1: Prepare the Liner for Frozen Onion Cubes

You can use various ice trays (your choice). Make sure your hands are thoroughly cleaned and dried. Then slit a generous sized plastic food bag along its sides, so that you now have a very long plastic length. Drape it over the plastic ice-cube tray, leaving an allowance at one end, which is sufficient to allow for dipping in your fingers, sorta like when you make thumbprint cookies. Then "dip in" the plastic into all of the orifices of the ice-cube tray, using my included picture as a guide for how the result should appear like.

Step 2: Processing the Onions

Dice an onion or two (I used a large white onion, but you might wanna try an extra large one, to entirely fill up the tray, or even a 2nd tray).

Then fry the diced onions in an extra large frying pan.

Then let the pan cool on a cooling rack.

Then spoon in the onions into each "homemade liner" which is lining each Cube-Orifice of the Ice Tray.

Then insert the tray into a large plastic bag (or cover with foil) for freezing.

Once the tray is frozen, refer to my picture.

My picture is, a self-evident STEP 3.
