Frosted Pumpkins
Frosted Pumpkins are a fun project for any age.
Supplies
You will need...
One pipe cleaner
Three orange pipe cleaners
5 oz borax
8 oz water
String
A pot for boiling water
Styrofoam cup
Stir stick
Wire cutters
Step 1
Twist the orange pipe cleaner into the shape of the pumpkin that you want using as many pipe cleaners as you need. Twist the green pipe cleaner onto the top of the orange pipe cleaner to make a stem. With the wire cutters cut the green pipe cleaner into desired length and bend the top to look like a pumpkin stem.
Step 2
Bring 8 oz of water to a boil in your pot. Measure 5 oz Borax into the styrofoam cup. Carefully pour the boiling water into the cup. You may not need it all, just enough to cover your pumpkin. Use the stir stick to gently stir the water and Borax together.
Step 3
Place your pipe cleaner pumpkin into the cup of hot water and wait for 8 hours. When the time is up, take the crystalized pumpkin out of the water. Tie a string around the top of the pumpkin and hang it in a window or place in the sunlight to enjoy your creation.
