From Scrap Wood and Tiles to New Desk

If you have extra wood and tiles laying around from a project you can follow these easy steps to create your own desk without spending money.

Supplies

Tools Needed:

  • Dremel Saw Max
  • RYOBI Sander
  • Spray Paint
  • Tape Measure
  • Tile Saw
  • Drill
  • Wood
  • 12 1 Inch Cross Bolts
  • Tiles

Trace and Cut Wood

Step 1: Trace the wood to be 29 inches long

  • 20 Inches Wide
  • 12 Inches across the point to get an angle cut
  • Cut the legs to 32 Inches long and 3 Inches wide
  • The X Supports will be cut 33 inches long and 1 inch wide

Paint Top Frame and Legs

Begin to paint the legs, supports, and frame

Cut Tiles to Fit Frame

  • Tiles will be 10 inches long and 6 inches wide
  • Cut across corner 5 inches to get an angular cut
  • The back tiles are 4 inches wide and 10 inches long
  • The middle tiles are 10 inches long and 10 inches wide

Attach the Legs

Then you will drill the legs into place

They are 1 inch off the corners and 2 inches wide

Attach X Supports

You will cut the X supports 1 inch wide and 33 inches long

  • Then add two bolts on each side
  • Cross on stick on one side
  • Then add another stick behind the wood to get the x shape

Final Result

Once everything is assembled you will have a desk that looks like this. This desk was made of scrap wood and tiles from an old project.
